Rude people, no service, no refund
I purchased a hot air balloon ride through 1800SkyRide on October 9, 2006 for my wife's birthday on October 17, 2006. We found out about a high-risk pregnancy on October 16 and were not allowed to use the serve per doctor's order. We called the business and requested a refund. They said that they wouldn't give us a refund, but instead, a gift certificate for use within 2 years (10-9-2008). After our child was born on June 12, 2007, we continuously attempted to call sky ride to schedule a hot air balloon ride. We called at least once every month for the next year. Every time we tried to schedule, they said that the company didn't have availability for months, or that we had to drive from Indianapolis (where we live and where the original ride was to have taken place) to Kentucky or Ohio (another state away). We told them that since we have an infant, this was not feasible. They said they would contact us in the coming days with a response to our dilemma. Of course, we never received follow-up. We kept calling-speaking with several employees who were ALWAYS rude and telling us that Michael Hosey, the General Manager, would give us a call regarding the request to refund. They never responded. Finally, in October 2008, when the certificate was nearing expiration, an employee named Rozelyn said there was a new General Manager named Terrance and that he would get a hold of me. He never did. The gift certificate expired. In November, I called again and this time, to my surprise, TERRANCE actually answered. He said that our request for refund was denied by the VP of Operations, Lilly Jesus. We paid nearly $500 for this hot air balloon ride and HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE IT. Since this time, I've googled this company and noticed hundreds of complaints talking about how this company is a scam and they just take your money. They don?t even really OFFER the service, they only contract out the service. I don?t know what to do. We feel like we got the short end of this deal and robbed! We've put in a complaint to the Atlanta BBB to see what they could do. When I told Terrance about how bad of a name the company has online, he said that all of the issues have been resolved and since the company is under new management, there are no longer any complaints. And all I had to say what that this complaint is still outstanding -- for the last two years! They won't even let us ATTEMPT to schedule another appointment!
