Overbooking
I was inconvenienced by having to waste over 3 hours prior to check in and then drive accross town 10 miles and when I arrived at the second location I was not able to check in until 4:20 a.m. Long story short it took 3 hours and 20 minutes to check in. HORRIBLE! now Hotwire is not being helpful at all emailing me that is ok for th hotel to send you to a second location! SCAM how about my 3.5 hour waste and gas mileage for the 10 miles. SCAM!

Misrepresenting Hotels
Hotwire sells rooms based on the Star rating system. We just returned from the worst 3.5 star rated hotel ever. Pay the extra and book direct or from a Site that lists the Hotels so that you can read the reviews. Believe the reviews. After getting home we read horrible reviews about this Hotel.

Their customer service is non-existent
I have been a hotwire customer since they opened for business. Up until this past weekend, I've had no problems with them. This past weekend, I attempted to check in and the hotel had no record of my reservation. They were completely booked and had no room to offer. It was NASCAR weekend, so the whole town was completely booked except for a couple of rooms at $279/night at a Best Western. The hotel said that several people had the same "no reservation" problem all weekend and hotwire had been paying for them to get a room in another hotel and eating the cost. I called Hotwire and told them everything and although they did refund my money for the reservation, they refused to do anything else for me as a result of their incompetence. I was stranded in a city without a place to stay by hotwire. I ended up having to drive 150 miles to find a more reasonably priced place to stay in. I then had to drive the 150 miles back to Dover the next morning. A waste of gas, my time and with much aggravation. I emailed hotwire and got the "sorry, but we cannot do anything else" email. I will never use hotwire again and I am on a crusade to tell everyone else to never use hotwire. Their customer service is non-existent.

Double billing
I was billed twice for the same service of changing the date of an airline ticket. I was unable to get an answer on multiple calls. I then got an answer and was told that this would be rectified in 72 hours. Nothing happened. I called back and put on hold multiple times for about a 30 minute wait on the phone altogether. I was then told I needed to fax a credit card statement for their review before any decision would be made. I consider this very poor customer service and wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

Misrepresentation of hotels
I needed to reserve a hotel room near Charles de Gaulle airport. Hotwire promoted a marginal two star hotel as a four star hotel in the airport. The hotel is in fact more than the .2 kilometers that was advertised. I have used numerous internet websites for hotel reservations usually successfully. I would advise anyone to never use Hotwire. Once I discovered the name of the hotel after payment unfortunately, I found that the hotel was selling for less per night on any other internet reservation; and that the reviews are overwhelmingly negative.
Hotwire is being dishonest, do not use them for anything.

misrepresentation
I searched for a hotel in Fort Worth, TX and was offered a 3-star anonymous hotel that supposedly retailed for $239 at a rate of $59. It was supposed to be "similar to" Doubletree, Hilton, etc. HA! After I gave my credit card information the hotel I had been given turned out to be a horrible dive, NOT in the downtown area, or at least not where it is save to travel. The hotel's own website rate was $69! No where could I find it advertised for more than $80. We were lied to on every point about this hotel. We had to pay for another hotel because I was afraid to even get out of the car at the dump Hotwire was selling us.

misrepresentation
We recently used Hotwire.com to book a trip to Chattanooga. They claim "deep discounts" and also use a star rating to explain the condition/amenities of the hotel. After we booked the trip we discovered that our two star hotel was rated as 1&1/2 on hotels.com and travelocity. It was with a hotel chain that is considered an example of a one star chain by the explanation of the Hotwire ratings system. We also discovered that our "deep discount" was only about $5.00 per night and was for a smoking room. To top it all off you can only talk to anyone by email. It is answered by a different person each time but they all have the same canned message about how they value you as a customer and are confident of their ratings. It almost seemed computer generated. If we had used travelocity (or anyone else for that matter)we would have been able to pick the hotel, the type of room and been able to get a refund. It leads me to think that they only sell the rooms people don't want.
I have no complaint against the hotel company. I just would have never chosen them because we wanted a better property than that. My problem is with Hotwire. I think they misrepresented the hotel and the discount. The gamble is just not worth it. We are out our money but have learned a lesson. I would never recommend them. I would recommed that you google "Hotwire complaints". You won't use them either.
