Fraud
I am still pissed as of July 7th 2009. First mistake, I went to their website and started making arrangements for a flight to Nashville. I got all the way to imputing computer data for credit card info. Well, I tried inputing it 4 times to put my security code in and it didn't work. So I called my credit card people to verify my code was right. They indicated yes. So I called Hot wire as they instructed (my 2nd mistake). I called and customer service verified the code by using 3 way calling with my credit card people. After we hung up, she attempted input for the flight to Nashville and stated, " it won't take it and it would be 24 hours before it could go through due to I had inputed maximum amount of times prior on my first attempt to secure a flight and the computer would not take any more transactions on my card. SO I SAID CANCEL IT. Customer service said okay and gave me a referral to expedia.com for booking. So I did and it went through without a glitch. Well suddenly I get a itinerary number with hotwire and a charge for $526.90 that has been charged to my credit card not more than 10 minutes after I booked expedia at their referral to expedia. So I called hot wire immediately and they said, "well, her notes are not real clear about what happened." They talked with her and she said, " I don't know, I've forgotten." 10 minutes ago and you have forgotten the phone call!!!. I tried to get them to think it through. Would I had gone to expedia to get the exact flight for the exact amount of money to make the trip immediately after I hung up with them. COME ON! So they said, "well, its not clear. We will check the call and see. I have been calling for a resolution for 11 days without resolution. It is the 7th of July and I have called with no resolution to this still. They will not let m nor my credit card company listen to the call with them should they listen to the call nor have they make a decision. Today they said, "well, it could be 10 days or so. No one has called it up. Hell, it has been already 11 days. THIS IS CRAP...THEY ARE .THIEVES. But, my credit card is going to charge me interest until the dispute is settled either way I lose. I ended up calling a bad company and INTENSE emotional anger as sleepless nights IS ALL I HAVE GOTTON FROM THESE THIEVES. Charged for 2 balances of $526.90 or $ 1053.60 and all I have to show is a dispute without resolution that charges me interest on the whole deal until this is settled at some point. DON'T USE THESE THIEVES AS I DID AND GET SCREWED.

Travel Insurance
We feel we were misled when we purchased travel insurance through Hotwire's 'Access America'. Make sure you read the fine print! Even though our airline canceled our flight, and Hotwire verified it by making contact with the airline, they wouldn't offer a refund of the $600 hotel reservation we booked through Hotwire. The reason for the flight cancellation didn't fit their ridiculously stringent criteria, so we were out of luck.
The front page of the 21 page document specifies coverage for trip cancellation 'before you get started' . . . but the only way one is covered is if the airline has monetary problems . . . when you read the exclusions it is clear that the insurance really doesn't cover anything at all!
WE WILL NEVER USE HOTWIRE.COM AGAIN! And we will certainly advise all friends and acquaintances to avoid them as well.

Scam charges
I booked a hotel on Hotwire.com and paid $90 for a room. When I arrived at the hotel I found out that their regular price for a room is $10 less than I paid. Hotwire says they have great discounts because hotels sell them unsold rooms. But I did not get that "discount".
I contacted Hotwire and their response was that they can charge anything they want, and it's up to me to pay or not. I see their point, but because they don't say the name of the hotel until you pay, charging more is cheating.

They are thieves again
I am pissed. I went to their website and started making arrangements for a flight to Nashville. I got all the way to inputing computer data for credit card info. Well I tried 4 times to put my security code in and it didn't work. So I called my credit card people to verify my code was right. I called hot wire customer service as they stated to do. I called and the lady verified the code with my credit card people. She then attempted input and stated it would be 24 hours to go through due to I had inputed maximum amount of times and the computer would not take any more transaction on my card. So I said cancel it. She said thats okay go to expedia.com as they are about the same rates. I said fine. So I booked the flight. Well suddenly, I went to my email and there and behold was a statement from Hotwire that I have a Itinerary number, flight and a charge for $526.90 on my credit card. So I called them back. Hotwire stated, "well her notes are not clear about your conversation. I tried to tell her think it through...would I had made another purchase for the same flight, date and time? Why would I need two flights. The price at expedia was $60.00 more. Why would I choose that over your price if I hadn't had trouble. Now I have been charged double for the same flight and my credit card people are not standing behind me for dispute. THIS IS ROBBERY! IF anyone has a lawsuit or a class to start one it's time for these people to be held accountable. This is bullshit. Bobby

Awful experience
HOTWIRE booked me a 2x star hotel claiming it was a 3x star hotel in Corvallis Oregon. I had a 3 night stay and initially thought I was getting a good deal. The hotel lacked a business center (one computer and one printer in the main hotel lobby- no privacy!), the hi speed internet had trouble connecting ( got on the phone with the hotel's telephonic tech support and wasted at least a 1/2 hour trying to set up the ethernet and settings connections all to no avail!), the fitness center was one walking treadmill and it rained most of the time I was in Corvallis making the fitness center inadequate for a good workout! And the heater had a tough time working. I checked out and went to the Hilton Garden Inn down the street and was much happier! I called HOTWIRE for a refund and the customer service reps and account managers were rude and not customer friendly! They kept on claiming that the hotel was a 3x star hotel and I- the customer- was telling them it wasn't. Finally when my travel was done (and I had already paid double for a 3x night stay in Corvallis (Hilton Garden Inn and Best Western Grand Manor Inn- already prepaid) and I was back home, I did a web search and found all but one website saying that Best Western Grand Manor Inn in Corvallis was a 2x star hotel. This made sense to me that HOTWIRE had booked a 2x star hotel at a 2x star rate and to sell their room, HOTWIRE told me that it was a 3x star hotel! Travelocity, Kayak, Trip Advisor, Hotels.com, all say the hotel is 2x star. Expedia doesn't rate it and orbitz thinks its a 3x star. (So 80% of the web sites I checked agree with me that the hotel I was booked was a 2x star hotel and not a 3x star). I contacted HOTWIRE customer service and once again they were rude and confused. I talked to a service manager who was unhelpful and mainly reiterated that HOTWIRE thinks that the hotel is a 3x star and they couldn't do anything about it! (except give me HOTWIRE credit for $140.00 (for future booking) which is roughly half of the 3x night stay- but why would I use that credit if HOTWIRE's booking services are so faulty!?!). The account service manager was confused and angry why I wanted to speak to her higher manager! She apparently didn't understand that her unsatisfactory statements weren't helping!

Online scam
This site "claims" to give you a fake "best offer" that you do not even get details of until you commit to a NONREFUNDABLE / NOT-ALTERABLE transaction. What they describe and what you get are two completely different things and once you realize this you have already made a purchase with no chance whatsoever of cancellation, change ot human interaction whatsoever. I am out $1, 233. The site is all electronic and nobody on their end knows what they are selling - at all. You think you are getting a great deal but realize later you paid FAR MORE than anyone else and cannot cancel the transaction. Do not get sucked into the expensive travel ripoff.

Overrate their hotels
DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM. THEY RATE THEIR HOTELS ABOUT 1 STAR HIGHER THAN MOST OTHER SITES DO. YOU WILL BOOK A 3 STAR AND END UP IN A 2 STAR DUMP. NO REFUND IS ONLY POLICY. BUYWER BEWARE.

Awful company
I have used Hotwire.com several times in the past to book hotels and rental cars and have always walked away satisfied. I book my disney trips through them so I can get a good deal on a hotel. I used them this year again to book my hotel for my disney vacation and while on the website I was going through different hotels, when ready to book I clicked on a hotel not realizing I had clicked on the incorrect one and booked it.
After I got my confirmation and it stated the name of the hotel and star rating and price I realized I clicked the wrong hotel, I called them immediately after and stated I booked the wrong hotel and I wanted to go ahead and rebook, the hotel I wanted was a little more expensive and had a 3 star rating instead of the 2 star of the hotel I booked, I was told that all reservations are final, after going back and forth with the agent for some time I gave up and called the hotel, I found out that Hotwire.com lied about the location, Hotwire.com states the hotel I booked is in Kissimmee, the hotel is in fact in Heritage Park not Kissimmee, the hotel is twenty miles away from disneyworld.
I then called back and told hotwire that their website was incorrect that I desperately want to change I'm willing to pay extra for the hotel I wanted and I was told that I could not change it. I am very angry and disappointed with hotwire and I will never use them again. Apparently since they don't want my money they don't want my business. I have an employee base of 288 employees and I will make sure that NONE of them use hotwire, and my family will not use them again either. I can understand a no refund policy but even priceline will let you upgrade your hotel, hotwire needs to make sure they are being a little more honest when they give information about the hotel.
I called them again today to let them know I want to change what I got was a rude representative and I was told when I get there if the hotel doesn't match the description given I can change-teh description on hotwire.com is 'Hotel has one pool' that is it, nothing more. I read a bunch of reviews on this hotel and come to find out it is terrible, it's near a prison and really far from Orlando area attractions. I really want my money back at this point but I know that I won't be getting that either. Bottom line is, you get what you pay for and I will from now one book my disney vacations with disneyworld.com from now on and pay the extra money for a disney hotel and decent customer service and a knowledgeable staff.

misleading advertising
I entered Hotwire.com looking for an airport hotel close to the Ft. Lauderdale International Airport. The Hotwire site listed two hotels as "Ft. Lauderdale Hollywood Intl. Airport FLL." I booked one of the hotels only to find out that it was not close to the airport; did not market itself as an airport hotel and did not offer a shuttle service
When I expressed my concerns to Hotwire, they responded that the hotel was in the Ft. Lauderdale Hollywood area. True enough, but on the web site it specifically listed the hotel under my search for airport hotels. Hotwire has refused in four e-mail exchanges, to acknowledge that their advertising is misleading, saying only that they value my input. The cab fares to and from the airport more than exceeds any money I might have saved by booking with Hotwire. Bottom line: you deal with Hotwire and you're getting a pig in a poke. You don't get enough information to make a sound decision. I can't imagine ever doing business with them again.

Decpetive Advertising
I purchased a car rental through Hotwire.com. At the end fo the purchase I was offered "insurance" on the car. I purchased the insurance assuming it was insurance on the car itself. I was later told that the insurance was for the trip itself. I called Hotwire and they refused to cancel the insurance. I feel that I was deceived during the purchase process.
