Horrible set up
The worst system I've ever used. I will make sure I report this to every travel website I use. I found a car two classes better and 25% lower after I booked with Hotwire. Horrible set up that you can't back out or renegotiate your price after booking 3 months in advance thinking you're getting a good deal. NEVER USE HOTWIRE AGAIN and I'll be sure to let EVERYONE know what a rip off it can be. I will copy this note and post it anywhere I can.

Deceptive website!
Hotwire.com presented itself as a discount reseller of airline tickets. As I entered my destination and dates to get some prices for a round trip ticket the website required me to enter my credit card number. As I looked around for different flights at different times and prices, the website displayed a 'Thank You' message and informed me that I just made a purchase and 'All sales are final' and 'There are no refunds'.
I tried contacting the company by phone but could not get anyone to answer. I called my credit card company, Discover, and put the transaction in to dispute. They did a routine investigation and sent me some copies of Hotwire.com's refund policy. I am still disputing the charge.
The price of ticket was ridiculously high for the flight offered: $454.00 for a flight that required me to change planes in Denver, as compared to the flight I actually booked on Cheaptickets.com for the price of $294.31. In addition, Cheaptickets.com will give you credit for canceled flights if you do so within 48 hours of booking!
Why would any reasonable person choose to do business with Hotwire.com?!?!?!

Avoid Hotwire.com!
Hotwire.com
www.hotwire.com
Beware when booking hotels through Hotwire.com. In their "T&C" it stated that there "may" be additional fees. Even though hotwire knows there "will" be additional fees, they will not disclose that information to you.
I made a hotel reservation in downtown New Orleans, LA. I thought I received an incredible rate for a 4.5 STAR hotel. I will not mention the hotel name, this is not their fault. Only after booking the reservation the consumer can find out the brand name of the hotel. Once I checked the hotel's website I found out about the additional parking fee, almost 50% of the daily room rate, which hotwire was aware of and refuses to disclose to the consumer. I contacted Hotwire Customer Services and was rudely told that Hotwire does not offer refunds. There is no reason that can be given, that will qualify for a refund from Hotwire. I then asked for a supervisor and she refused to refund my reservation also. After discussing the situation, she refused again. She then asked if I had any additional questions, so I asked a gain for a refund. She explained to me that this issue has already been discussed and asked if I had any other questions, so I asked for a refund again. She began to get rude and refused to discuss the matter any further. She kept referring to the "Terms and Conditions" of the website.
I suggest that nobody ever use a company that will not refund a purchase.
Hotwire.com is run in a manner that they do not care if you are a return customer because they got your money this time. Sooner or later they will run out of disgruntled customers and have to close their doors. I hope this can assist some would-be consumers to avoid Hotwire.com.

Poor service!
My daughter and I went to Texas to visit my other daughter. My other daughter ordered a hotel room through "Hotwire". When we got to the hotel, there was only one small bed ,when we ordered a room for two. The bed was as hard as a rock and the hotel room smelled like cigarettes and pee. When we called and talked to "Judy", she said she would not get us another hotel room for two people and she would not let us talk to anyone else. She would keep answering the phone when we called and even when I E-mailed them a complaint, she answered the complaint(it must be a very small company). We ended up having to stay at a motel 6. Hotwire or Judy would not refund the money or get us another room. It ended up being an expensive trip. I was VERY unhappy with Hotwire, I think they are criminal.

Charged for room when not booked!
I used Hotwire.com to find a hotel room. When I attempted to book the room I got a response that the room was not available. I moved on and booked a room at another hotel through another service. I received no confirmation email of a booking. Next thing I know I received a survey from Hotwire to rate my stay at that hotel. I pointed out through the customer support email that I had not successfully booked the room. They told me to call a toll free number. I called the number and after being passed from the first person to a "post booking specialist" I was told that their computer showed that the booking was confirmed and confirmation was sent. I repeated that I got a message that the room was unavailable and no confirmation email. They finally said that they do not give refunds.

No refund!
I booked a car rental with Hotwire.com. My plans changed due to a new job and child care issues. I called two weeks before the pickup date. I was told that there are no refunds or changes, and that is how they get their discounted rate. I can understand charging a service fee for using their site. But to keep the entire $179.57 for a car rental that will not take place is theft. What, if any recourse do I have. I am planning on disputing this "purchase" with my credit card company. How can they charge the full price for a service that DOES NOT take place? They must be violating some law.

Fraud, rude customer service!
I made a reservation on hotwire.com for a hotel in Pigeon Forge, TN. I paid $76.00 plus tax making the total $90.00. When I arrived at the hotel I saw the computer screen. Hotwire was only being charged $52.00 for the room. I already paid a $5.00 booking fee to hotwire and now they are getting $20.00 extra dollars?
Hotwire states they have "deeper" discounts because hotels sell them they unsold rooms. Yeah, hotels sell the rooms cheaper to hotwire but hotwire still charges the full price to customers. In fact, I could of saved close to $9.00 by just walking in or reserving on the DaysInn website. Their normal non-discounted rate was less than I paid.
When I called Hotwire.com's customer service and waited 20 minutes. I got this very rude redneck agent who stated, "we are a for-profit company and we can charge whatever we want for a room."
Well, since hotwire did not save me anything and just upset me. I will take my business elsewhere. At least then I won't get surprised with a "3 star" roach motel.
The reason hotwire.com doesn't tell you what hotel you will be staying at ahead of time... is just so that you can't check with the hotel to make sure you can't being charged MORE.

Hotwire bad policy!
This is the first time I used hotwire and I definitely will not use it again!
We booked 2 rooms for our family trip to Miami. When we arrived the hotel was repainting the hallways in all floors. We can even smell the odor inside the rooms. After about 10 minutes staying in the rooms, our two children started complaining about headache then my sisters and parents as well.
I called the front desk representative trying to switch to different rooms. She said the whole floors were being painted. So I asked her if we could cancel our stay and they had no problem with it. Apparently other guests complaint about same problem. But they said I had to call Hotwire for their approval. I called Hotwire explaining the problem with the hotel. But Hotwire DO NOT let us cancel the reservation. It is Hotwire's responsibility to accommodate the hotel if the hotel was in bad condition. If they cannot cancel the reservation or refund it, the least that they can do was to switch us to a different hotel. Hotwire did not care. It is a stupid policy and everybody should be aware of using Hotwire.com. Please go to BBB.com as they showed several other complaints about Hotwire.com before you do anything with the company.

Hotwire.com
Recently booked a hotel stay in Columbus, Oh after receiving several emails about huge price cuts for hotels in Columbus. The emails explained that because the hotel chains were unable to confirm bookings for this rooms they authorized Hotwire to advertise them for significant discounts. I investigated the website and learned for $79.00 a night I could stay at a "3 star hotel" and examples given were Radission, Holiday Inn, Doubletree or similar hotel. I liked the examples given so I went ahead and enter my travel request. After entering my info I received my reservation confirmation only to learn that my "3 star hotel" was a Best Western. I immediately wrote them an email explaining that I was unhappy and "had never spent a night in a Best Western that I would even remotely rate as a "3 star hotel" and how disappointed I was. I never got a response but it's Hotwire's policy that you can't cancel once booked so I hoped for the best. I arrived at the Best Western, checked in and went to my room. As I opened the door I learned that I was being put up in a "handicap" room and it was not a "double room" that I requested. Instead I found that I had one bed which would of been fine had I been traveling alone but I had my daughter and two year old granddaughter on the trip with me. I went back to the desk to complain and was told that there was nothing she could do for me because they "were booked solid and to take it up with hotwire." I tried reasoning with the young women and explained that my granddaughter needed to be bathed and we couldn't do that in a handicap shower. Again it wasn't her problem... no other rooms available. I was really enraged when my cell phone rang and I learned that my sister and her family had decided to drive up to Columbus that night instead of the next day as planned and was just checking into the same hotel we were staying in. I went back to the desk and asked how was it they were able to get a room when there were no more for us to move to? The front desk clerk stated this time " your room is what Hotwire requested and there is nothing I can do?" Apparently Hotwire was able to get discounted rooms only because they were "handicapped" accessible. I have received several surveys from Hotwire inquiring about my stay an have completed each very truthfully, however as of today no one has contacted me in reference to my surveys. I will never booked a room on Hotwire again and encourage all of you to be extremely careful if you do.
