I am having a HP Pavillion DV9000 notebook PC. A few days back I noticed a prorblem with the left hinge of the notebook, On consulting Service center at Kota I was told that this is not covered under warranty. Same reply was given by HP Care Call Center. However on furter enquiry I discovered that this problem has already been recognised bu HP-US, and free service extended for affected customers. The Description mentioned on the web page was, I Quote, "If your computer’s product number is listed above, and the notebook PC experiences one or more of the symptoms listed below, contact HP during the Duration of the HP Limited Service Enhancement to determine whether you are eligible for a free repair.
Symptoms of a broken left display hinge include but may not be limited to the following: When opening or closing the display panel, you may hear popping or crackling sounds from the bottom left corner of the display (left hinge area). When opening or closing the display, the display may feel loose or wobble in the lower left corner. The plastics surrounding the left display hinge may show cracks or breaks".
Though I am having same problem and my notebook was manufactured with same base design and period, but HP people say that it was only for US and not India. Also say here it is Physical Damage and will not be covered by HP Clause for Repair.
