Lousy support center
After my laptop crashed for the second time, hp took it in for repair and said it would be returned to me within 7-10 days. Every week or so I would check in with their customer service only to be told it would not be due for another two weeks. Three months after sending it in to be fixed, it was safely returned back to me. If only they could have told me they would be keeping it for that long and not have given me false hope throughout these last few months. Through multiple unfortunate experiences with hp, I feel I should warn any persons interested in purchasing their products. It's for your own good.
It is very disappointing that they have such a lousy support center for their rather ingenious merchandise.

Bad service
I bought a HP laptop at Sam's Club. Yes, it was in the scratch and dent section, marked repaired keyboard, but I was assured that it carried the full HP warranty on it.
(It had a $50 rebate included that I never did receive, as well.)
I had it about two months and the spacebar was a problem--hit it anywhere but dead in the middle, and it would not function. For the most part, I was using the system in medical billing, I installed networks and had to have a fair amount of data from the offices and access to the network.
It was inconvienent, but workable, and I figured that I could get a replacement keyboard from service. Roll on to 8 months after purchase, I contact service and find out that they cannot ship me the replacement part. Not user replaceable.
I'm not the typical user, I did electronic calibration and repair in the AF, and ran two calibration labs. I also repair HP laser printers, and I had just replaced the screen, part of the case, and the DVD drive on a customer's Compaq R3000 laptop. Which meant I had to totally disassemble (and reassemble) the unit.
They sent me the link for the repair/replacement of the keyboard, but they wouldn't send the part.
Well, I still had to have the use of the laptop, so I put it off a bit longer...and so when I called back in November and said that I could finally send the unit, they said the laptop had gone out of warranty. I ended up having to send them a scan of my receipt, and the back of my laptop. After which, I never got a reply, confirmation, or whatever.
All during the time I talked to service, I was dealing with outsourced techs that were in India. Hello, my name is BOB (yeah, right). Only saving grace was that my statics and dynamics professor was Indian and it was at 8am.
I finally bought a keyboard on ebay--for half of what HP parts wanted. And it was still in plastic. Took me 15 minutes to drop it in.

customer service
I am having a hard time with hp concerning a bad keyboard. I was told to send it back, but when I did it a was gone 3 weeks. I finally called today and after being transferred around thier support system for over a hour, I was told that the keyboard was being returned because I "sent the keyboard only". I clearly told the man that the keyboard only was defective. We actually went thru several tests to make sure it was the keyboard only. How stupid can you get? They are suppose to be sending it back. Iwastold to place another order. Plus the dam thing keeps crashing.

Customer dis-service
This is an ongoing saga. You call HP CS. You have to answer some robot; then get put on hold. Then someone answers the phone, asks you for all this information, including model # serial # to check your extended agreement (which someone put the wrong date on, but doesn't matter since the printer is the 2nd one received this year from HP because of problems). Then you get transferred to another phone -- ONLY TO HAVE TO ANSWER ALL THESE same QUESTIONS AGAIN!!!
Now why do they give you a complaint number? Why do they make you repeat the same thing? Why when it's in the computer and person #2 sees it, do they ask you for your full contact info, serial number, type of machine, etc. etc. all over again??
It's plain dumb!!!
This IS A COMPUTER COMPANY!!! and they have a DUMB, customer unfriendly customer dis-service, customer drive us crazy service department.

FOUND A LAPTOP DEFECTIVE DOA
Do Not Buy HP or compaq NOTEBOOKS I GOT A LAPTOP DOA NOBODY TO HELP ME . HP would not replace it. Service IS WORST AND TIME WASTING.

Service
I bought an HP Pavilion DV 2000 laptop from Staples in Calgary on August, 2007. At the first time that I used my conputer, the screen got frozen.Anyway, I thought I did soemthing wrong, I went on using my laptop. These pavilion series have a webcam just on the screen.Day by day, the camera started not to work properly. To use my camera, I had to restart my computer at every single time whenever I wanted to use my camera. But that time, I really needed my laptop and I did not send it to be repaired. On February 2008, the computer started not to work. The screen was getting frozen, I started to see blue screens even I was not doing anything hard on my computer, I was just listening to music, the screen was getting frozen, or the blue screen with some writings on it was appearing.I restored my computer, but it did not work. Then I decided to give my laptop because it was impossible to do any single thing on it.I gave it to Staples to see what the wrong was, but they said that they had to send my laptop to HP in ONTARIO. They contacted with HP, they sent an empty box 2 weeks later, which was not supposed to take 2 weeks to send.Anyway, Staples sent my laptop to HP, and HP has my laptop for more than a month, and they still did not do anything. When I try to send an e-mail to HP support, the only thing they tell me is that they are so sorry about the problem caused to me.Last two weeks, I am asking what the situation of my computer is, and they have nothing to tell me.When I talk to the staff in Staples to contact to HP about my computer, the only thing they tell me is that they do not know anything.Last thing that I heard about my computer is that HP was waiting for some computer part to come from somewhere, where they never tell me.They have no right to keep my laptop in them for more than 2 months, also they have no right not to repair my laptop for which I paid for 2 years warranty includes every single thing!
The thing that I decided is not to buy any product of HP any more.I will send the same thing to them every single day until they reply me with the right excuses.
