abuse of ''extended warranty''
I bought an HP Pavilion Desktop from Fry's nearly 3 yrs ago. I was told by the salesman at the time, how important it was for me to purchase an EXTENDED WARRANTY, informing me, that in the event my PC needed repairs, "we will replace it, with a new one'', so I was sold, bought a 3 yrs. warranty.
Well, a couple of months ago, my desktop suddenly went out of order. Would not come on at all. I took it to Frys. The motherboard was out of whack they said.
I was told they would give me a call to pick it up once it was repaired. I waited God knows how long. I had no PC at home. I went back a couple of days latter to pick up a loaner, which turned out to be so slow, that the grass in my lawn grew faster than that piece of junk to boot up. I took it back.
I bought a new PC, not from Fry's (they lost me as a customer for a new PC, but hey, why should they care, my business is just a drop in the bucket for them).
I finally get a call to pick up my PC, ''its as good as new'', I was told.
Well, a couple of days latter, same thing happens. I take it back, again, they said it is the motherboard., '' we'll make sure it repaired to your satisfaction'' says the sales guy.
I think it was May, the first time I took it to be repaired.
After a couple of months, I had a call from a sales person, my PC was ready. This was on Wednesday September 16th 2010. I was told, that a new motherboard was replaced, along with a faulty memory stick, and a new hard drive. ''YOUR COMPUTER IS AS GOOD AS NEW'' had I heard that before?
I went to pick it up the next day. I told the service person, to switch it on. Wow, they forgot to install the operating system. I had to wait for them to do that, no apologies on their part. I live 20 miles away, would have had to make another trip.
Today is the 19th, I switch on the PC at home, and you guessed it right, its out of whack again.
So I have to make another trip, 20 miles, so they can perhaps get it repaired by Xmas of 2011, that is, if its repairable at all.
Since the inception of Fry's in Houston, I have been their regular customer, over the years, have given them huge amount of business, but I, like you, are just a NUMBER to them.
I never complained to the manager, trying to protect the employees from negative feed back, but enough is enough.
I wish their service was monitored.
I WANT A REPLACEMENT PC, I PAID ENOUGH FOR MINE, OVER $1300 OR SO.
''Conns'' a well known electronic outlet in Texas was recently fined by the OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY general, for screwing people after they bought an extended warranty. Not repairing, replacing, or making good on their promise to be honest, seems that they need a name change ''CONED''

Charge for their lack of skills
I bought an HP Desk Top PC at Fry’s Electronics in Fremont, CA. The PC has “FREEZE” problem. I brought the PC in. They told me they will send it to HP for Manufacturer Warranty Service and ask me to sign the paper if HP find “No problem with it” I have to pay $69.99. I signed it because I trust that if I could see the problem HP would see it and fix it.
Later on Fry’s Technician called me and said he ran the Diagnostics and cannot see the problem and told me it would be fixed if I agree for him to do “The System Recovery” on the PC but I have to pay another $60.0. I asked him why they said they send the PC to HP but they try to fix it there.
The next day I went to Fry’s. They said I have to pay $69.99 to take the PC
I paid the money to take the PC but felt cheated. They did not sent the PC to HP. They can not fix it and theylack of knowlege or don't even care try to see the problem. Then they charge me money. Why should they do anything?
I called and worked with HP Support Technician; they recognize the problem and agree to have it back for services and fix it at no charge at all including shipping charges.

Very bad experience
I am working for Reliance Energy at Mumbai. As suggested by Shri Prashun Datta, Sr.EVP –IT, I had gone of the above system for home, which was the top of the line when it was bought in. Today he also feels for his recommendation.
I had a very bad experience with my PC and with your technical support; still they are unable to rectify the problems. In the past 10 months, I had sent over 145 e mails, 3 times reformatted the HDD, increased the memory, 37 technical visits of local office technicians at my residence spreading over 60 hours, 46 hours of talk with your online support at Noida, 19 mails to ‘ e mail Balu ’ , 23 register a complaint and complement mails. 10 mails in sent directly to your office, /to the office of Mr Ravi Swaminathan ,VP, PSG group. Now, I realized that Hp has such an excellent customer sup-fort, no one could penetrate the system , which has no accountability.
Last month, your technician visited, spent time from 11 to 6 pm, and still could not locate the problem. It is a joke at home that my 10 year old daughter, wakes up in the morning, switches on the system, then go for the morning routine, she says by the time she goes with her cup of tea, the system will be ready – it takes such a long time to boot.
All I requested HP after a serious of battle with system, as a goodwill gesture to provide me HP Pavilion M7380In Media Centre PC in place of the existing one and I am agreeable to pay the difference. As the system comes with 19” monitor, I will take the monitor also. Since the above system is till under warranty I do not find that there should be any problem for you to replace them, which has some inherent defect
Sir, I am writing this to you with the firm conviction that you would ponder over the contents of this mail. It assumes added significance in view of your friendly statures as a part of the enterprising think-tank , also a person who value customer service.
