I tried filing my taxes online with H&R Block. I tried using their simple pay program and was given an account. The account number and the RTN are invalid and now I'm stuck in the middle of filing and cannot file elsewhere. It makes me angry to think they can call it simple when it has been extremely difficult for me tofile my taxes for the first time in twelve years. I don't have a bank account, because I think banks are theives and now it looks like tax preperation companies are doing the same thing.

I am a single mother with 3 children and i was mislead and ripped off by hrblock i am paying $369.00 plus other fees for a quick tax return that I am not getting quickly at all When I agreed to this noone told me I had to qualify for a loan I was treated as if I would undoubtedly get my return in 2 daysNow i still have to pay all this money who knows when I get my return meanwhile the reason i was paying all this money was to pay my past due rent and buy groceries for my children Leaving out information that is pertinent to ones decision is wrong and dishonest and obviously the agents know your financial status and still take advantage Now I wait for my expensive tax return with really no idea when I will get it BUYER BEWARE!!!

I have been using HR block for the fourth year now and never had any problems until this tax season. My returns are complicated as I have lots of wierd deductions from work. I normally go to HR Block Premium and pay the extra few dollars for their better service. This year, they had some underpaid idiot prepare my taxes. After watching her scratch her head for a an hour or so, she looked up and said "mr guy, we have you for a $4000refund this year." I said wow are you sure(as this number is about twice what I have normally been refunded. I was told it was correct and was asked to come back the next day after her supervisor would review and approve the return. I came back the next day, signed all the papers and was issued a Refund loan check for $3500 under the presumption that the return was checked and approved before submitting to the IRS. A week later, the same preparer called full of appolgies for several "errors" that were made on my return and asked that I would come back and sign a revised return. The new return is for a lot less, $2000 less to be exact, and am infurated that HR block is not willing to pay for their mistakes. I paid them nearly $500 for preparing my taxes, and they screw up and wont stand behind their mistakes. They offered to repay me half my prep fee, but still insist that I owe the IRS for 2 large. So I strongly advise anyone to stay away from them as they use underpaid and unqualified people to prepare your taxes. your better off investing in a $50 copy of turbo tax and doing it yourself.

I opted to use the Emerald card for my tax refund with HR Block. Everything was fine, until I noticed that my balance was much lower than it should be. After checking my transactions online, I saw what I assumed to be a simple error on their part. I had purchased two airline tickets totalling $610.80. The two tickets were listed under my completed transactions with two seperate charges of $305.40. The total charge of $610.80 was also still listed under pending transactions and being deducted from my balance a second time.

I called customer service. That was my first mistake. The representative clearly had no idea what I was trying to explain and rather than attempt to understand the problem, she simply told me that my problem would be escalated due to a system error and resolved in a day or two. I had a feeling she was just telling me this to collect my $2.00 charge and get me off the phone and so I called again the next day.

Of course, there were no notes on my file and the representative I talked to simply told me that this needed to be escalate to another dept, blah, blah, blah. I asked the name of the dept - no answer. A file or case # I could refer to - no such thing. How about a supervisor - nope. In the end I was transferred to the dispute dept. After a 20 minute hold, I spoke with a young lady who advised that she not only wasn't the dispute dept but that I had to call another # to get that dept. I called the # and was given a fax # to send a written dispute too.

I am not necessarily aggravated about what I would assume is probably a system type error. I am positively disgusted by the shoddy and miserable service I received. Clearly, if you have a problem this is not the company you want to deal with which is really a shame since i have used them for years. They have not only lost a valuable customer, but a vocal one at that.

STAY AWAY from H&R Block if you don't you will owe fees, penalties and charges because they do taxes wrong!!! forget the peace of mind option because even when it is their fault they do not pay as promised. I had my taxes done in 2005 and the tax preparer stated I could write off some work expenses. When I showed her what I had as proof she stated it was fine. Well I received a letter from the IRS in Oct of 2007 asking me to submit that proof. When I did the IRS stated it was NOT good enough and charged me $2000 even though it was the prepareres fault. Pece of mind was denied and that was because they were not putting in the proper information concerning the claim. I have been trying to have someone help me and everyone ignores my calles and no one helps me including the district manager Donna Caswell who stated she would handle it. Well it is now Oct 2008 and I still have heard from no one my complaint and issue is still pending andI got a bill from the state of NC with what I owe them due to their errors which will cost me another 1400.00. I contacted the corporate office who has opened a claim and it has been a run around with them as well. They contacted the district manager in my area who was told to contact me to handle this issue and that was over a month ago. STAY AWAY!!! or else you too will have these problems. I know 2 other people that are having the same issues in different areas where HR Blcok ignores and could care less about the tax issues they caused.
