Worst company to issue credit cards
HSBC Bank is the worst company to issue credit cards. I had one fo their cards back in high school (im a junior in college) and paid it off, they're were charges that i was disputing when the account was opened. Later i found out the was a balance 5 years later! I found this out through the collection agency that contacted me on out emergency line at work! I thought someone in my family died so i rushed to the phone only to find out that the person on the other line had no current info on myself and didn't have the correct last name! the social and personal info was correct and the rep on the other line told me that if i didn't wire transfer money to that company within that day that the local police were going to be sent to my workplace to have me arrested for non payment of this debt. I work for JPMorgan Chase and i know my rights as a consumer. The Fair Debt Collections Act clearly states that the THIRD PARTY COLLECTION AGENCY is breaking the law in harassing me at work and when i get home they still continue to contact well after 9pm. I've notified them in writing to stop contacting me and that still has not been enough. Im currently working with the BBB, Federal Trade Comission, Attorney General and an attorney to bring this company down to end the nightmare with both companies.

offensive commercial
We are writing this complaint in regards to a commercial that airs during the MSG broadcast of Buffalo Sabres hockey games. We find it very disturbing that HSBC would put a woman on television telling a demograph that it is entirely acceptable to state that it took her 3 months to love her child. While we're fine with her saying.."i didn't want to be a mother", the rest should be deleted. Thank you for your time, and we hope you fix this. Sincerely,
Every Concerned Parent

amount debited to my credit card without my consent
Sir
A sum of Rs.10, 658 was debited to my Credit Card by HSBC bank without my consent. I have also not signed any document for this. When enquired I was told by the bank, that based on my voice message with a third party (TATA-AIG insurance Co) they have debited my card account. I have not given my consent to any body.
I want to one thing. "Can a bank (HSBC) debit a card holders account based on the voice message of the card holder with a third party (TATA AIG), without the consent of the card holder". Is this allowed as per the banking rule ? Can I lodge a formal complaint with Reserve Bank of India ?
Kindly advise
Thanking you
With ward regards

complaint against HSBC credit card-levied late payment surcharge and name in CIBIL report
I recently applied for a car loan from State bank and the bank has rejected my application.
After repeated request the reason given to me was that the CIBIL report indicated that there was an outstanding amount of Rs.16, 332 approx on HSBC credit card vide no 4476 9212 0857 2655 (Oct 2004 - Oct 2006) which was written off in July 2009.
Let me clarify that HSBC was not sending any statement (hard copy or e-statement) inspite of my several request and then i requested bank through their phone banking to cancelled my card after my full outstanding payment but HSBC had levied late payment charges + Financial charges for all my next statements.
Trust me I am going through a mental trauma as I have landed up in position where I have no clue about me being a defaulter in any of the banks.
I seek justice to get my name removed from the defaulter list with an immediate effect.
If HSBC is not willing to give me further clarifications on this outstanding amount, I am ready to drag them to court.
with regards

Charges without pre-information
Dear Sir,
I have below complaint with HSBC bank, G.K. I Branch New Delhi.
1. I maintain a salary account with Zero balance facility with above bank branch from November 2008. The account was open by them by reference from my employer ATICO OVERSEAS LTD.
2. Till 7th September 2009 they treated above account as salary account with Zero balance facility but on 8th September they debited my account for INR 1103/- as a levy for non-maintained of Average quarterly balance of INR 100000/- per quarter.
3. Due to above effect since balance in my account went below the amount for which one of my cheque was issued- it bounced & they further debited & charged me INR 303.30
4. When I contacted their call centre & Nodal office in Chennai – first they asked to liaise with my HR dept. –which I did but according to him –till date he has not received any communication from HSBC about the removal of our company from the waiver list.
5. I presume that it is duty of HSBC bank to inform us about if there is any change in status of the account. Since November 2008 till August 2009 - every month my account has been credited with salary. So, it was treated as Salary account by HSBC as they did not levy any charges for non-maintained of Average quarterly balance of INR 100000/- per quarter.
6. A letter was sent by HSBC to me on 2nd of September about the charge without mention of change of status of account, however they have charged me for quarter – April- May –June 2009—it is total breach of contract as a customer. I should have been informed on onset of the quarter from which above change was done and not at the end of it as it .
This is arbitral and total mistake of HSBC part & hence, request you to take this issue with HSBC bank and credit INR 1103/-(for charges of non-maintenance of quarterly balance) + INR 303.30 (Cheque returned due to charged above & balance gone below the cheque amount)= Total INR 1406.30
Also, penalty of INR 5000/- must be imposed as non-adherence to banking norms so that it can be a lesson for them in future.
Thanking you

Terrible Customer Service
What do you expect from a foreign bank, wow these guys are unbelievable. I am a high net worth individual and I was repeatedly treated like one of the many cheap suits you can see walking around their head office in Vancouver.
Their securities department (stock brokerage) had no clue what they were doing. Their fees are astronomically high and their advisors are less knowledgable than your local mom and pop financial planner. They underperformed the market every single year I was with them and tried to lie about the performance to trick me. They pretend to have a global advantage but really they have absolutely nothing. Its the only thing they can say about themselves because they are inferior to the other big 5 banks in every aspect. Their track record globally is atrocious, look at their mutual funds performance. Yikes! Come to think of it, HSBC Securities canada is just a slapped together motley crew formed by prior failed independant dinky brokerages. They have no proper trade desk or analyst department! Just a couple of washed up advisors praying for the cheesy bankers to send them clients in return for the hockey games and lunches they send them to with your commissions.
I was told rudely that I was flat out wrong about their credit card policies when they charged me an annual fee on a "no annual fee" card. I was left completely unsatisfied and rudely delt with by someone that sounded like they were speaking jibberish with their mouth full of food. The manager talked to me like I was a child and talked down on me in that dreaded fashion that we have all come to recognize as typical old fashioned stuck up banker behavior. I swear they have the worst case of small paycheck syndrome out of all the banks in this country, and that is saying alot since their peer group doesnt have a great reputaion to begin with. The list of complaints goes on and on...
They will never do well in this country because of their stuck up attitude and complete inability to understand north american customer service. They boast about their "global reach" and "international expertise" but really that is absolutely worthless I have an easier time travelling with my TD account than I do with crappy HSBC, the only thing they are doing on a global scale is dissapointing customers and ripping people off. I hope their financial results dont have a global reach because they are completely floundering in Canada and the US and losing themselves a ton of money annually in the process. Keep it up guys, Moores would not be in business without you.

Overcharged
A couple of months ago I went traveling around Western Europe. Before I left I personally walked into my nearest HSBC branch and informed them of my travel plans, told them where I was going and that I would be drawing money out from lots of different ATMs as I paid for youth hostels and the like. I asked if it was necessary for me to get a separate account for use abroad but they told me my existing one would be fine.
What was initially a problem was that HSBC do not let you check your balance on ATMs overseas (at least not at any of the ones we tried to) which seems ridiculous because if you were to become overdrawn then no doubt they would put huge charges on you.
Later on I was staying in a relatively isolated Spanish village a good hours drive away from any large urban areas and my bank card refused to take out any more money. I phoned HSBC and after putting me on hold for long enough to listen to 6 different songs (including Stereophonics, Madonna and Justin Timberlake and Sting to be specific) they put me through to a man who told me my card had been cancelled for suspected fraud and erratic spending behaviour.
This was a massive inconvenience to be because I only had access to my HSBC account abroad, but in fairness perhaps I should have had a back up plan or another account to prepare for something like this happening. However, it was less the fact that they cancelled me card without telling me and more that their advisor on the phone told me to wait 5 minutes and he would call me back with advice and then never did. I was shocked by this, because I had told him clearly on the phone that I was stuck somewhere with no money. In actual fact I had a friend with me who could let me borrow some but if that had not been the case then the situation could potentially have been very serious (I am a 22 year old female).
Furthermore when I finally came home and went into a local branch to enquire about my card, the advisor there told me it appeared to be working fine on their computer system and they had no record of it being cancelled. They then refused to let me withdraw any money while waiting for a new card unless I brought in my cheque book.
I would also like to point out that the friend that came with me had an HSBC account but didnt use it abroad because HSBC are particularly expensive to draw money out. He also told them in person that he would not be using his account for a couple months while abroad but then they phoned him up while we were away and told him they were going to close his account in 3 days unless he paid in a minimum of £150. This seemed entirely unreasonable since the lady in the local branch had told him that it would be fine to not use his account for that period of time.

APR Hike
How long can the credit card and banking systems be allowed to continue to financially rape its constituents? Is the system setup to make sure you fail? Are the credit card and banking systems owned by some secret legal mafia group?
I cannot believe that HSBC has raised my APR rate to 31.99%. I make my regular online monthly payments. A few times have been late a couple of days. I spoke with one of the representatives of HSBC who informed me that they were unable to change the rate as the computer software system does not allow them to do so. They only have viewing rights and that the credit division would send me a letter telling me why I received the rate which is not what I asked for. I am pursuing this as it is ridiculous.

Overcharged
I cancelled this card over a year ago, I do not owe this company, they have contacted equifax, experian, TransUnion with my having a balance over 120 days over due. I have not charged anything, I do not have a card. They have ruined my credit. This company is using fraudulent charges. This card was cancelled over a year ago, I have talked to and e-mailed this company that I was cancelling the card to no avail.
