Terrible experience
HSBC mortgage services is now beginning to contact customers about past due mortgages, even if the account is current, and is within the allotted grace period. I was contacted 5 days after the due date on my mortgage, on my cell phone no less!! When asked if the policy had changed, and why I was not notified, I was given the standard "it's an automated dialing system" response. This is ridiculous and and outrage. Why should people who are in good standing on mortgages now be subject to the same policies as defaulters? These people have absolutely no clue as to what a mortgage agreement entails, except for how they decide to interpret it.

Rip off
The very worst costumer service its been a year and i still cant find my title from this agency thumbs down for sure. every time i call i get someone who barely understands english and thats after the gauntlet of automated crap i have to sit through. Hsbc definately the worst company out there period. If i had the knowledge i have now i would have never ever accepted the loan these people rob you blind w/out you even knowing it. Hsbc lets u own something.. for a time. After the interest rate hits you are destroyed. The funny thing is, this company will mail u all these offers and bonuses that are VOID with the company itself, and to top that all the mail is just trash to remind you that you owe the the next coming bill. Garbage imo.

Overcharged
I was almost done paying of my credit card... I had always mailed my payment the same time for years... but once the balance was almost paid off my payments began to start posting late... and they wouldn't credit them... only half of one... i kept mailing it earlier... and earlier... but for a few months the same thing happened... until i had to start mailing my payments two weeks ahead of time... it was only being mailed to the city of industry... which is only about 20 minutes from where i live... this is so obvious... they need to be stopped... they made and extra $90 or so off of me before i left them... they are so crooked and they know what they are doing.

Fraud and cheating
Two weeks ago I went to John Keating Chevrolet to purchase the 2008 Malibu. I wanted my current finance company to finance it (HSBC). When the sales representative contacted me a few days later, I was informed that HSBC has went under. To this day (three weeks later) I have not been notified of this change. When will they inform us consumers? I believe this is so unfair. I also have an HSBC direct savings account of which I have recently closed. If they haven't had the integrity to contact me to let me know of this change, who knows what is being done with my money.

Many levels of fraud
HSBC auto finance in San Diego, where do I start? Well first of all, I worked there for 2 years, so everything here is true. There are so many levels of fraud and incompetence at HSBC that I am extremely amazed that it took this long for them to go belly up. Yes, they closed their auto refinance and finance doors a few months ago in 2008. Too bad.
Unfortunately it was about 5 years too late. I have read so many unhappy people that dealt with HSBC auto finance. I was loan account manager & then a loan funder in San Diego. This was the span of my two year at HSBC hell.
The first of many critical errors with HSBC is that they do not train their employees, nor do they require any sort of a degree in finance or banking. If you can con people into refinancing their auto loan, you are going to be loved. Once you see that HSBC targets people with '' sub prime '' credit and worse only to not make their life better but to beat them to death with fee's.
The managers were never around. They would ignore when one of their team members was breaking the law because that person was making their numbers look good. This is not unlike Wall Street today.
At HSBC there was no overtime. People would work OT all the time but not get paid because there was not authorized OT. But if you worked it and played phone games to make it look like you were not there, no one cared. The management was so blind that they would not even know how to do the job of the person that they were managing. I was a funder also and my boss never ever funded. But he told me how to do it. Funders work OT all the time and NEVER GOT PAID OT. Ever. I saw it happen everyday. Employees would work OT, with their phones logged out and keep working to fund more loans. Because the more loans you fund, the more $ you make. If you were to be a normal employee and take law required breaks and leave work on time, you funding was average at best. Only when I started working OT and not getting paid, did I start to be at the top of the funding list.
HSBC is a fraudulent, incompetent and illegal place of business. No wonder there is so many lawsuits. HSBC target's people with bad credit because they know they will be late with a payment and then HSBC collects late fee's. If you had a FICO score of less than 500, you were approved.
HSBC san diego is no longer in business and it is no wonder why. If you ever are going to be financed make sure you find out who it really is behind the bill. I got a class action lawsuit letter in the mail from HSBC yesterday and I have not worked there for over a year.
HSBC target customer is the low income, bad credit, ignorant, excited to refinance to skip a payment group of Americans. Usually minorities. It is everything that is wrong with the USA and I am glad that they are no longer doing auto refinance in north america. You reap what you sow HSBC.

Fraud and scam
HSBC Auto Finance is a horrible business. Please whatever you do don't use them! I hate not being able to speak to an intelligent person. Let alone an American. It is so frustrating having to speak to people overseas (India) with heavy thick accents that are rude. They don't really listen to what you have to say. They constantly hound you if you are one day late. Like the previous people have written they call you day and night all hours and don't stop until payment is received.
You can hardly get them to agree to give you an extension if you fall into a financial hardship, i.e., job loss, illness, etc. They keep telling you that you don't qualify for an extension! WHAT THE F_ _ _ _? If you can't qualify for those reasons then I don't know what does!! You have to keep calling them and beg them over and over again to give you one. You have to explain your situation over and over again because you never speak to the same person about it. It is a nightmare!!
They never give you the same answer to your question. It's like they make it up as they go. They are extremely unprofessional!
Why is it that you can never get a hold of the main office in San Diego, CA? You have to keep calling a stupid 1 800 number over and over again never knowing what country you will reach or what language you will be dealing with the heavy accent!!
I will never do business with them again. NEVER!! I will make it my mission in life now to get the word out about how horrible HSBC Auto Finance is!! They do prey on the poor people that do not have the best of credit. They charge you (the unfortunate people) 19.5% interest or more. Never let a dealership talk you into signing on with them. NEVER!
I am sure that there are many more nightmare horror stories out there about HSBC Auto Finance but, they have not heard about this site before otherwise, I am sure that there would be more posts about this horrible company HSBC!!

Rip off
I received a phone call from a company representing HSBC / Orchard Bank stating I was late with payment and I had a past due balance of $736.00. I replied I had made a payment for this month and told them the amount and date I made the online payment. My Balance was $66.02 and I didn't have a payment due for 23 days.
I was immediately transferred to a manager and she said Orchard Bank is demanding full payment now. I hung up on her. I contacted HSBC / Orchard Bank via phone and email - they did not seemed concerned in the story which makes me think they were part of this scam.
NEVER give out any information on the phone.

Froze bill payment without telling me
Recently in July, I closed my joint account and opened a new account at my local branch in Encino. I made sure to transfer across all my bill payments to the new account and changed all the direct debit instructions with the utility company, my credit card etc.
Everything seemed to be fine.
Then, my insurance agent called me on August 17th and told me that a check that I had requested to be sent to him had not arrived. I opened my account on the internet, but Bill Pay was unavailable. I called HSBC and they told me that there were problems with the website and I should try again later.
I checked 2 days later and was told that in fact my bill pay service had been suspended since the 6th of August. The agent could not tell me why and told me I must call another company to find out. She gave me the 1-800 to call.
I called the 1-800 number of the bill pay service and was told that HSBC had submitted a bill for payment to my old, closed account. The bill pay service had decided to freeze my account because of this. I asked them why they had not contacted me and they said they had no email address for me. They said that HSBC had not supplied it, despite the fact that my email address was provided on my web account. So they had frozen my bill payment without telling me.
They reinstated the bill payment, but were unable to tell me what payments had been refused. My bill pay screen was still not available on the HSBC website, so I spent another 25 minutes on the phone with the HSBC internet helpline getting access again.
No-one apologized.
I then checked with my credit card company, and it turns out that your bank rejected a payment request from them for the credit card balance on August 10, for $832. This carried a penalty of $39. And a subsequent late fee was applied of $39. And of course, late payment of credit card will likely have an impact on my otherwise spotless credit record.
I am in Moscow on business so all these telephone calls to sort this mess out was very expensive.
