Phone banking
HSBC makes it nearly impossible to call and speak to a customer service operator. I finally managed to connect to a live person and when I told her how frustrating this is, she said the 'secret' is to push the hex key, then this key, then that key??? HSBC makes talking to their customer service operators a 'secret'? I am an international customer and after holding for five minutes to talk to a service operator today, I was given the option to 'leave a message'. When I went to leave my message, the system hung up on me. Come on HSBC...you may be trying to save money, but you are driving your customers nuts!

Harrasment
A Person introduced himself as Legal Manger for HSBC Collections - Harrased the customer with unparliamentary words and wants the customer to send family members for prostitution and earn money to pay the balance and wants to know if the customer eats shit or food fo the stomach. Takes whole family in the bad language he used - I understand there is an outstanding payment to be done - but this harrasment is no where mentioned inthe application while applying for the loan - Can some one look into this and take necessary action ...

Charged resubmit fees and lies
I have been with Orchard Bank for 5 years. I have paid my account faithfully every mouth, sometimes only the minimum and other times more. I was late once in those 5 years and that was right after I started they added a $75. membership fee. I wasn't sure what it was and I called and asked. I paid the membership fee off quickly. I opened this account to establish good credit. I have done everything that I am supposed to do.
In May, still trying to keep my credit rating up there, I called and wanted to change the account that they were taking the payments out of to a different savings account. I called customer service and was told they didn't have an account # set up for me. I explained they had been taking monies out of my account and asked how they did that without an account. I was told, "I don't know. We don't take payments out of savings accounts."
since I had to close the account any way I didn't think it mattered. This had all taken place in May.
They still tried to take a payment out. I called again and received the same response and again in June.
I called the customer service again this month to try and explained to them again what was going on and was told that we don't waive resubmitted charges. These resubmitted charges have put me over my limit for the first time in 5 years and "There is no record of me having called before."
Ironic that I am responsible now too, for the customer service people not reporting stuff like they should and I am a liar about calling before.

Rude customer service/apathy
Unbelievable! Using my HSBC mastercard, I made a reservation in June for a 4 night stay e at a hotel in New Jersey for the end of July. I promptly went on line one day later and cancelled because of a scheduling issue. I thought I made the appropriate cancellation. I don't remember if it was an automated cancellation or done by email. I have cancelled before at hotels and never had an issue. Needless to say, I was charged for my 4 night stay even though we didn't go. I because it was so early on in June and two months had passed, I lost track of any information. I called the hotel about the charge and they never returned my call. When I called HSBC and spoke with Jody I was treated like a child. She raised her voice, outwordly argued with me and was by far the worst customer service person I have ever talked with. I intend to make her supervisor ( although she said she was the supervisor) aware. They wanted proof of the cancellation - which I understand, however after two months passed - emails and such are deleted ... I just needed HSBC to try and help. I have been a customer for 30 years...but one person has changed this...

selling auto accounts
shame on HSBC for selling our auto loans to a shit hole called Santander Consumer USA. Don't know how any of you at hsbc or santander sleep at night. You will get yours, hard times will come upon you both. And you little guys who answer the phone they hate you too!

Credit Card
We paid the balance off in full but the payment arrive a couple of days late, so they charged me late fees and interest. I did not realize this right away as I knew I was paid in full. Once I did i was 30 days late on late fee I called and cleared this up right away. The amount was about $35.00, they have put it on my credit report and refuse to take it off.

fraudulent telephone call
I am an HSBC card holder. Today I received a phone call from an HSBC representative to voluntarily waive provisions of the newly passed financial services reform act. The company representative said I could voluntarily waive the provision of the bill to stay within my credit limit. If I exceed my limit, the company would impose a thirty-five dollar fine on my card. This is precisely a situation the financial services reform act was designed to remedy. For decades now, the credit card industry has allowed card holders to exceed their credit card limits for a fee that puts the card holder further over their credit card limit. HSBC card holders should not fall for this voluntary waiver. Card holders should stay within their credit card limits as the act requires and avoid fees that benefit credit card issuers.
