Soldiers Debts
HSBC-BEST BUY has no policy and refuses to work with injured soldiers on their accounts! This should be a law for all debtors regarding injured soldiers.
HSBC-Best Buy not only will not work with them but adds to the problem in ridiculus late & non payment fees! I have been dealing with them since Oct. 08 and have talked to 30-50 different people, spent over 5 hours in one day on the phone being bounced from person to person, department to department. I have mailed purple heart orders, deployment orders and medical retirement orders. Yet they do nothing, in fact they lied!
They said if we paid $285 a month for 3 months, he could go back to his reg. minimum payments. We have borrowed and begged to do that. Now they say he is no longer considered behind but his regular payments have gone from $73 to $276 a month! His disability pay finally started this month but no way can he afford that!
My advise...AVOID BEST BUY and anything HSBC until they can honor the servicemembers who willing put themselves in harms way for us!

credit card holding payment
This company is ridiculous. I have been using/paying this card for years without too much thought. On the 13th I paid my balance in full using the eft feature on the website. The money was deducted from my account on the 15th. I found out today (21st) that because it was a large payment, they have put a 'hold' on my payment and my card is useless until the 26th at the earliest. There is no reason to hold my payment as it is clearly their money now and no longer accessible to me in any way. I will not be using them ever again and I will tell everyone I can to do the same.

Horrible customer service
I used an HSBC credit card for some of my business expenses. I have a FICO score of 807 and I never missed or was late on a payment. I did pay my balance every month and never paid a finance charge.
I discovered that a vendor had double billed my HSBC card for equipment I purchased. The billing appeared in two consecutive months. I contacted the vendor, they acknowledged the error and promised to call back. When they hadn't called after 3 days I reported this by letter to HSBC and asked for their help resolving this. I then returned to China for several months on business. When I returned I found that nothing had been done by HSBC. I contacted them and they replied that too much time had elapsed and that I was on my own. This despite the fact that I had filed my challenge within the 60 day limit HSBC claimed to have.
Now understand that, while I was in China, my administrative assistant was checking my mail and HSBC NEVER responded to my complaint. I contacted them again, this time by certified mail. Shortly thereafter they canceled my account. Again, I have an exceptionally high credit rating and no missed or late payments with HSBC or any other lender.
I eventually got in touch with someone at the vendor's office who researched the problem. But their only recourse was to credit the original account (now closed by HSBC). I have contacted HSBC for a refund and am still waiting. I have never been able to speak with a live human being at HSBC. The duplicate charge was about $2, 100 so this is not chump change.
HSBC is without question the worst lender I have ever had the misfortune to do business with. I have, on the ohter hand, been an American Express card holder for 25 years. In that time I have challenged perhaps 3 charges. In each instance Amex came immediately to my aid, reversed the charges and kept me apprised of their progress on a permanent resolution of the dispute.
I will never, ever hold another HSBC card.
If anyone out there ever chooses to try for a class action suit against this dishonorable bank, I have kept meticulous records down to several return receipt cards and would be happy to make them available.

INTEREST RATE INCREASED AFTER PROMO PERIOD
I applied for the HSBC credit card after I purchased my first brand new Chevrolet HHR. I had a beacon score of 812 at the time I applied for the card which had a promotional period with 0% on balance transfers and purchases and was told my interest rate I was approved for would be 8.99% after the promotional period was over. I thought that sounded great. My other two credit cards had a interest rates of 8.99% and 9.99%. I never paid my HSBC statements late or any other bill late for that matter in at least 9 years. So to my surprize when I opened the first statement where the interest rate was to take effect it was 14.99%. I called HSBC of course and they told me there was nothing they could do and that was the interest rate on the card. I canceled my card that night but is there anything else I can do? My credit is very good but to be honest I'm seriously thinking about not paying the interest charges being billed. This is very deceptive and there should be something the consumer can do. I wish I never applied for this card it is all a scam.

Fraudulent practices
Feb 27, 2009 letter received March 4 states that due to a 'recent loss mitigation review' my credit limit was reduced to $300 from $2, 400. I don't really care...I have $50 of recurring charges every month that I pay off in full and occasionally go up over that $300, also paid off in full but I spent a lot of time waiting and paying in full every month, being a good slave to the credit master, so I could boost my FICO.
Because as we all know, the system is stacked against us and in order to get a decent interest rate on a loan, you need that FICO up there and to get the FICO up there you have to dabble with using credit and to dabble with credit means minimum payment bondage in perpetuity for all but the most responsible so yeah...paying in full every month got me ZIP now that my credit limit was reduced.
My credit report is fine, nothing changed, it's simply that they are in trouble and want to reduce their liability across the board since our wonderfully reckless new homeowners who are facing bankruptcy anyway like to jack all their credit cards out to the max, and then walk away from the house AND the cards. Hey...House of Cards, I made a funny.
So I can't wait until I see my FICO take a dive because my total available credit limit gets nicked away by this card and that card for NO GOOD REASON but being fiscally responsible. Just ONE MORE WAY the rest of us who did the right thing are getting shafted, hard.

Overcharged
I had gotten this card one month prior to my wedding in 2007, so I've had it about 2 years now. I just seen a few short weeks ago that my credit limit was reduced on this card from $7000 to $3600 and without notice! Aren't they required by federal law to notify the customer of impending changes to a credit limit/interest BEFORE they actually do it? This is an outrage! This all began about two statements ago I noticed that HSBC reduced my cash advance limit from $3500 to $1300, first. I wondered why that was? Then the last statement I received I saw the credit limit reduction and my mouth just dropped. This puts me about $400 shy of maxing out my credit card! I am so angered by this because I've worked very hard to get my FICO score just in the high 600's. (I used to have bad credit, so this is a BIG deal for me). Now it's messed up again. My husband and I can forget about refinancing our house for while because of these idiots. Once this card is paid off, I will NEVER do business with HSBC ever again- if they are even in business a year from now.

accessing website to check account
You cannot access the website to pay your bill or view account information. It tells you that the information is not correct. But you can send in your money and they accept . I have viewed other complaints and they all seem to complaint about the same thing.

SUZUKI MOTORCYCLE
I purchased Suzuki Motorcycle in June 2007. I thought I was getting a good deal with a percentage rate of 13.95% and payments of $105 a month for five years..NO. Since the purchase of my bike, the percentage rate has gone up to 24.99 and my payments usually average about $150 a month but being that I fell behind one payment I have been getting hit up with extra charges and harassing phone calls from the company even though I do make my payments every month. THIS company is so frustrating and I did not get the deal I was promised.. I am to busy trying to pay the finance charges and other crap they tack on to my bill every month I shouldn't owe $6800 but I do and I try to make a effort to pay on a bill that never goes down..I am out of answers and HSBC is not helping.

Fraud and cheating
Beneficial has been giving me the run around since October of last year (2008). That's when I called in to arrange for a late payment on our mortgage. First they transfered me to four different departments, then they claimed they had no record of my account in their files. Naturally, I told them if they had no record of my account I could not send them a payment. How safe would you feel mailing $1224 to a company who can't locate your mortgage account? Then after calling each week for over a month and a half, that would be late December, they magically discovered the number on my bills was for HSBC, since my mortgage was with Beneficial the nof cource they did not have my account on file. I told them they had no listening skills then because each time I called I specifically stateded HSBC/ Beneficial as my account holder. By that time I was 3 months behind. I arranged a partial payment of $900.00 as a gesture I intended to pay on the account. I was specific on the fact that the payment was for the outstanding amount owed, but they applied it to the principal instead of the outstanding balance. St thst timr zi requested to apply for their Hardship Program in an effort to negotiate with them. I explained that in January I would be temporarily laid off from my job due to the client canceling their contract with the firm I was working for. They gave me the number for the Hardship Department, which I later found out was Accorn, a third party not just another department in the mega corporation of HSBC/Beneficial. Every time I call them I am transfered at least 4 times before I can get someone to discuss my account with me. I called the first week of January to find out how my case ws going and was told there had been no case filed on my behalf. I asked the representative what had happened to the paper work I had faxed to the Hardship department, many of them were personal financial documents showing the bills from my cancer surgery and the letter about the end of the contract on January 20, 2009 which would be the firdt day of my lay off.
To make it as short as I can I had to reapply for the hardship program and fax the information to the Hardship department again. In a letter dated Feb. 20, 2009 I was declared in default and told I had until Mar. 06, 2009 to come up with over $7000.00 or they would cause foreclosure proceedings to be instated against the property. How can they want to foreclose on the property when we have done everything in our power to come to an agreement with them for reasonable terms. Our current interest rate is 9.95% with monthly payments of $1224.39. It takes two of my bi-weekly paychecks to make this payment. I asked why they wanted to foreclose on my home and add to the already declining property values, when it made more sense to renegotiate for a lower interest rate and lower monthly payment that we could afford. When I did go back to work on Feb. 09, 2009 my wages were decreasedby at least $150 a paycheck because I was not getting sale incentives due to the fact I was training for a new client and the Company I work for did not yet have sale incentives worked out with the new client yet. It is impossible for us to work with a loan modification company. The only ones I get any response from are either in California or Florida and want any where from $2, 000.00 to $4000.00 to take our case. If I had that kind of money it would be extremely stupid of me not to apply it to our outstanding amount past due. I feel like we are drowning, my husband is threatening suicide and take as many as he can who try to take our house. It all seems hopeless. The only thing the Government agencies, United Way and HUD are doing is play phone tag with me.

Lowered Credit Limit
I have had a Direct Merchants Card for over 10 years which for which I have never made a late payment and which carries a very low balance if any at all. Last week, without notification, my available credit was decreased from $8700 to $300. When I called they said it was a 'business decision' and I would find out 'why' when I received the letter. I received the letter which states that "we recently completed a loss mitigation review on our Direct Merchants bAnk (R) Mastercard (R) accounts. As a result of the class of accounts into which your Account fell, the credit limit on your Direct Merchants Bank (R) Mastercard(R) Account has been reduced to $300." I am baffled. No late payments; same income (if not more), credit is good; no foreclosures or late payments anywhere. Reading on-line complaints I see that this is happening to alot of people who carry low balances or no balance. This will have a negative impact on our credit (debt ratio) and will perhaps affect how other credit card companies and credit companies in general will view my report. It appears that if you are not carrying a balance and paying their %24 interest (which is outrageous) then they are reducing your credit to almost nothing. Motivation for them? -- GREED. Who is going to monitor these procedures which are affecting people like me with great credit who have been long standing customers with no late payments?
