Do a Thorough Check of the Person’s Name and Company Name! For the Safety of Your Children, Family, Reputation, Friends, and Organization.

1. Know whom it is you are hiring. Vetting is very IMPORTANT!
o Don’t just trust a nice smiling face, or a sweet sounding voice
2. Do a GOOGLE Search of Their Name and Company Name
3. Do a Background Check! Its worth it, most online Background Checks cost only $10 to $20. Isn’t your Event and Family worth it? Look at it as part of the entertainment cost. The government and concert promoters do so why shouldn’t you?
4. Have the been any reports of Inappropriate Behavior such as drug use, sexual deviants, stealing, pornography and nudity, and molestation. All of these things will affect your children, family, friends, and organization’s reputation.
5. YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF AND OTHERS TO KNOW

ITS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY!

SAFETY
1. ARE THEY INSURED OR BONDED?
2. What if they cause a fire that catches your or your neighbor’s home on fire!
3. Are they covered? ASK FOR PROOF BEFORE SIGNING A CONTRACT.
4. Do they have a LICENSE (ASK TO SEE THEM)
5. DO they have local county FIRE CODE CERTIFICATION? If something happen your insurance company will want to know. Don’t expose yourself to unnecessary liability!
6. Do they pay TAXES? This could come back to haunt you. Protect yourself.
7. Is the music or intellectual properties they are using used with permission (ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, ETC).

VERY IMPORTANT - REFERENCES

1. I don’t mean their friends and neighbors
2. WHO is THE OWNER OF THE BUSINESS?
3. WHAT IS THE OWNERS PUBLIC REPUTATION?
4. HAVE THE OWNER EVER FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY? This could affect your liability if they have already dumped their debts before!
5. ARE THEY CURRENTLY OR HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY LEGAL PROCEEDINGS?
