Denied Claims/Customer Service
On May 10, 2010 my father was diagnosed with lung cancer, he passed on September 10, 2010. I have had the worst time trying to get his claims paid, they denied all of his claims for Black Lung Benefits. He had never had any Black Lung Benefits, however, I had to prove that he never had any Black Lung Coverage. So, after numerous calls, I would guess I called Humana about 100 times over this subject, I finally got ahold of someone at the US Department of Labor, which was very helpful, they sent me a letter stating to whom it may concern, in short No Black Lung Benefits. So after all this time Human finally paid the claims after I did all this leg work. Now we have another claim that they are denying for Black Lung Benefits again, they have all the information from the prior appeal for the same thing and are now telling me I have to file another appeal on this claim, when they have all the information from the previous claims. I am ready to pull my hair out! I filed a complaint with Medicare on the previous claim, but that doesnt seem to bother Humana, they have to address every complaint they get from Medicare. I have also asked for an audit of his account because the In plan Out of Pocket was $4600.00 and my mother has already paid $5774.75 out of pocket. I have requested this audit 3 times and still have no response. The ambulance service we had to use for my father, Humana says is out of plan, but they do not have any that are in plan in our area, so $450 worth of claims has gone to out of plan which has a $6000 out of plan, but now they are applying everything to out of plan even claims that are in plan, everytime I talk to customer service, they cannot explain this to me and when I ask to speak with a supervisor, I get hung up on! I have been sent to a supervisor 2 times and both times gone to voicemail and have never gotten a call back, seems to me they need to clean house, there are a lot of people out of work that would love to have a job!!! I call the Corporate Headquarters in Louisville and told them I was going to take a day off from work and drive over there to get this all straight and they told me they had no set hours and probably wouldnt be there is I drove over and then put me into a voicemail that stated they would call me back within 1 hour and that was at 11:16 am and it is now 12:35 and I'm still Waiting, good thing I didnt hold my breath waiting on that return call...lol. You have to laugh or otherwise you just get more and more mad!!!
