Marc Flamer of I.J. Morris Funeral Directors convinced my dad to sign a contract to prepay for his own funeral arrangements. He followed my dad home from the funeral home to get a check rather than allow him to mail it to him. Flamer told my dad that he had 30 days to change his mind and get a full refund (as stated in the contract). 14 days later my father handed a cancellation letter to the receptionist at the funeral home for which he was given a reciept and told to expect a check within 30 days. It has been over 5 months and he has still not recieved his refund. He has called several times over these months and is always told to expect a check within a few days. Marc Flamer has not returned any of his calls. When I called the funeral home today on his behalf I was given the number of a company that I was told handles "trusts" for I.J. Morris. After some more wasted time, I found out that I was sent on a wild goose chase because this company hadn't paticipated in any new business with I.J. Morris since 1994! I. J. Morris' parent company has apparently been handling their own trusts since then. I will now need to contact the Florida Department of Financial Sevices (800) 323-2627 for assistance.
