I was looking for a I-Phone 4 in Sim Lim Square 2 days ago. Asked around a few shops, the average price is about S$1050/- (Inclusive 7% GST). Unfortunately, I was in bad luck that day and came across this shop counter at ground floor where a dark and plump guy called "Sunny" (Who I later found that he is the shop owner) quoted me S$980/- (All price included)for a complete set of local I-phone (No unlocking is required). I thought had got a bargain and cash out S$1000/- from the ATM. He asked for the cash before showing me the set. I handed over. After showing me the phone set, he told me that the quoted price was actually before 7% GST and I therefore have to pay for it. Now the total price is around S$1040/- . Still is cheaper than S$1050/- and I accept the price. He asked me for the Identification card and gave to his staff who went to his second floor shop for registration. During that time, he kept asking me if I want a 12 or 24 months warranty. I asked him what is the difference and he explained for 24 months, I need to pay about S$750/-. I rejected and only want a basic 12 months warranty which should be free by industrial standard. He did not mention anything. After waited for more than 20 minutes, his staff came down and replied that the I-phone was registered. Now, this "Sunny" shown his truth colour and wanted me to pay a monthly registration fees of S$29.99. I was stunned, refuse to accept and wanted for the refund but he said the phone has been registered under my name and I must pay for it. (My S$1000/- was inside his pocket) At last, I was asked to pay a lump sum of S$1300/-. I later found that the receipt was written Service activation and service unlock intention (Which this phone is not required to unlocked) After paying the money, I asked a few shops and confirmed monthly registration is not required. I went back to him for refund but was rejected by him as his explanation to me that I had accepted to pay for this price which I was actually mislead by him. I was conned by this "Sunng" Lesson learnt - Do not handover the money before checking the goods and receipt. And STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP"
