This is in reference to above mentioned online credit card issued to me, Ankush Gulati, Proprietor- Pearl Impex, In 2006-07 i was issued a gold credit card by the bank and later on was issued another online credit card for making purchases on the internet. This complaint is in relation to the online credit card which bear the no. mentioned in the subject.

At the time of usage of the credit card, I was informed by the representative of the company through telephone about insurance policy which was available for zero premium for gold card customers. He stated that sir, you are our prestigious customer and our bank has offered a scheme specially for u against your gold card. He said our bank is providing an insurance policy, for which you don’t have to pay anything! I said no to him and said call me tomorrow. Day after, he called again and offered me same, and then I said ok if its for free then I’ll take it!! As I don’t have to pay any money, a free insurance will no one refuse!!

The card was used regularly by me and payments for the same were made to bank within due date. Later as the details of the gold card was leaked, I requested for the discontinuation of the same. At the time of the discontinuation of the credit card, I cleared the entire dues of the bank by visiting the Jhandewalan branch of the bank. The dues were cleared and the card was discontinued.

Within few months of the discontinuation, I was shocked to receive a statement of the said credit card indicating there was huge outstanding balance on the online credit card. I enquired the details from the phone banker, I was told it was towards the dues of online card which I hardly used amounting to Rs. 32, 000 approx. I further enquired about the details of the transactions, I was told that an insurance premium has been charged on the card for the policy which was issued to me stating that there would be no insurance premium for the same and is free! I informed the bank several times, even when I received a phone call from your recovery departments, I told them my problem, about the same, but no one paid concern to my complaint and the bank insisted of the payment of the entire dues. I informed the bank officials several times the issue but the bank did not consider my complaint genuine. Without any mistake from myside, my name was listed in negative credit history list in consumer credit information Bureau report, (CIBIL), which I received when I applied for another credit card with anther bank.

As a gesture from side, I approached the bank, and offered them my willingness to pay the dues of the bank to improve the credit history. The bank gave me a letter dated 20th October, 2008, stating that if I clear all the dues of the bank, my card would be re-activated and I will continue to enjoy the services of the bank. Trusting on the words of the bank, I clear the entire dues of the bank with total interest amount even after I was told that you can settle the amount and pay minimum amount to solve the issue!! But instead I paid the full due amount and request for the re-activation of the card. But the bank did not consider my request and it went against its own commitment.

I don’t have any more dues with the bank. I have even made the payment of the charges by the bank which were illegally charged from my account along with full interest amount. The bank has even gone on to damage my credit history without any fault from my side and wrong commitment from the bank representatives.

Initially I have made all other payments to the bank. I now request you to issue me a new credit card as committed by the bank to me. Also remove my name from CIBIL black or negative history list!

I hope the bank will seriously look into the matter and give me another chance to enjoy the privileges of the credit card services by the bank.
