This company contacted the secretary who answers our phones, and pretended to be our regular toner supplier. He told her that we had been forgotten on the prior mailing to notify of a future increase in prices and that since we weren’t notified, that they were going to give us a free bottle of toner. She was told that they would be sending an order form over, but to not worry about the price, but to please just sign the form, as it was just necessary to have to get the product shipped. Unfortunately, she didn’t see this one coming, and didn’t see the need to run it by someone else since it was “free.”
They then sent one bottle of toner and billed us for $397. As compared to the $25 that I’d pay at Staples for the actual name brand toner. We also noted that the toner lasted 1 and a half day, and that all of the pages came out with toner speckled all over them as compared to the usual few weeks per bottle. Since we’ve been trying to clear this one up, the story has been that a sales company sent them the order, and that they don’t know who that company was, but that we’re still responsible for the debt. Now I’ve gotten a Dunscomm letter (a D&B partner collection company) to try to get us to pay. So far I’m having a little fun with the back and forth, and will of course not ever pay a cent to these crooks, but I’m hoping that Dunscomm will see what is going on here if push comes to shove.
