Everything
I have eaten here a lot. My wife works here.

She wanted to go to the doctor, but they said you had to have a doctors note. Doctors visit =$500. Average server pay per week is $350. So in order to miss any work at all she needs a doctors note. I think it is aweful that in order to miss work it takes over a weeks pay. How can you expect to keep employees if they have to spend $500 to miss a day of work which is actually needed.

The company does not offer health insurance, but they require a doctors note? That is a fallacies of the highest sort. How can you go miss a day that is important and afford over a weeks work to do so. I think the fact that a doctors note is required no matter what is ridiculous if the company does not offer medical insurance.

Anyone else see a problem here.

HORRIBLE MANAGER AND PHONY POLICY
I went to IHOP with my girl and my uncle and his girlfriend. Now take in mind that at this IHOP they have had a lot of immature people skip out on their tabs...and people at night are usually drunk. It was a late night. My girl and uncle and his girl had been drinking. I was the DD. Also, between me and my girl, we have 10 plus years of serving experience. mainly Crackerbarrel.
Our server seemed friendly. We talked with her and placed our orders. I wasn't hungry, so I got a water. My girl got potato soup, uncle ordered tbone meal, and his girl got breakfast. She specifically asked for no pancakes and the server offered extra grits. This made my uncles' girlfriend happy.
One hour and fifteen minutes goes by; we are done talking we wanted our food. I noticed my uncle and his girl starting getting upset...therefore rude...BUT i stopped them and I started talking to the server. I told her could she please check with the cooks to see what was going on. She smiled and did so, and my girl also asked for a coke refill. Now the server was a fault, but only for not keeping us updated on the food situation.
When the food came, after the manager got onto the cooks, the steak tasted awful and was cold, and yes i tried it to make sure my uncle wasn't just complaining. The server forgot about the extra grits and brought pancakes, and it had been 10 min since we asked for a refill. She then tried lying saying it was the steak that took so long. Yet a well done steak, should take a MAX of 20 MIN...and that's being nice... hold on I'm not done...my girl didn't even get her soup!
We asked for a manager. she started talking to us and put the blame in soooo many places. First it was that the server was busy. I pointed out that I used to serve and that my girl still does. Our server only had two other table when we placed our order...when your a server you notice things like this. I told the manager that isn't busy. (also the other tables weren't bothersome; bothersome tables can make one very busy). Then she said the cooks were busy...then I said well maybe you need better or more cooks. Yes, I was becoming a smart azz, because the manager was being rude in her tone, facial, and posture. I told her what about the soup, and the refill? She said, we'll get that. She offered to recook the steak...yeah rite! Wait another 20 min for poorly seasoned steak?! Plus my uncle was worried someone may spit in it, cause we had been asking bout our food, and the manager had to hurry the cooks to get it out.
He replied, that's okay can I have my money back for this. We had to pre-pay earlier...apparently this was a new policy. Two small bites had been taken of the steak, me and unc. She replied its policy, we can't do that. My girl replied you're the manager, you can do that. Then I pointed out all the bad things in a smart ass way...never swearing or getting loud. Take in mind we are BLACK and my girl is Caucasian. I said, "Going by all the bad things from food to service my uncle should be entitled to his money back for that plate of food. Then the manager says you all have to go I'm going to get the officer and she walked away!!! Oh! yes this IHOP has like 3 cops late at night who keep an eye on things.
I completely understand the cops being around! But we weren't in fault in anyway, so why get them. Plus she acted like we were to be afraid of a cop...lol. This is why I pointed out our race, because the majority of folks that come in late after the clubs were young African Americans. I'm from Pa, and I have no problem speaking with officers. I guess her living in Alabama and working at that IHOP, blacks coming from clubs wanted to avoid the cops...in her mind...
The cop comes over, I talk with him for about a min, then the manager comes over, I guess to see what I was saying(not to help). She tries to cut me off, I told her, "I'm talking to this officer not you, please don't be rude. " then I tell the cop "Now you after explaining all this you can see why we are mad, and she brought you over hear because she can't handle us like we are supposed to be scared of you or something." He smirks and shakes his head agreeing.
This upset the manager, btw, her name is NANCY. SHE BUTTS IN AGAIN!!! She told the officer, "I told them I would recook their MEALS." I noticed she used meals in a plural since. I said told her she said no such thing. she replied again "I did offer to re-cook your meals."
I'm thinking one; we want our money anyway, not meals recooked, but to prove a point to the cop I said "Okay, we want our food recooked." She looked at me like she wanted to slap me, because she saw her error, which i saw as her lying to the officer and she said, "Oh no I'm not recooking all that. " I replied that she just said she would. Then I said, "You know what forget it go recook whatever." She then left.
Here's the kicker my girl still hadn't gotten her refill, the cop noticed this and HE WENT AND GOT IT FOR US!!! NO JOKE!!! We then just left, because who knows what was in that recooked steak now.
And the waitress got to keep her tip and we never got a refund...NANCY AND IHOP IN TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA ARE COMPLETELY AWFUL!!! I have never heard of a place to not refund you for such awful service and food you barely touched, because it was cold! Also! since when did tips become mandatory...we should have been able to get that back easily!!! My uncle paid CASH!!! She just better be glad it wasn't my money...or I'd have gotten my money back! IHOP NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!!!

No Senior Citizen Discount!
The New I Hop at New Brunsfels and IH 37 in San antonio texas!!! Poor Service (They forget about you in the take out section)and a no care attitude!!!

I ordered six pancakes to go and only received just two little cups of butter!!! NO BRAINS WHEN DEALING OR ESTIMATING!!! No management on site and everyone doing what they want instead of CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

Not only that, the ready order stayed on the cook counter for over 10minutes waiting for soneone to pick it up and concude the bagging of the order. This is no way to run a business!! This tends me to believe that either I Hope Corprite doesn't care about the service or it reflects poor supervision!!

NO GLASSES
My daughter and I were at the IHOP in South Portland were we had o.k. service definitely had better. We were their at 11:00 am on a Saturday morning we asked for a glass of water. The server returned with to go cups, we chuckled the server said they had no clean glasses. The restaurant was not busy so we didn't understand the comment. If you don't have clean glasses maybe the have staffing problem or a employee problem either way they need help. This is the first time that I have ever been told that they didn't have clean glasses any where. NOT IMPRESSED, possibly this would have to do with poor management.

service
My husband and I have recently visited the IHOP in South Portland and the service was awful. The server Casey was rude and reminded us of a Robot. She seemed a little computerized, and you and you. This is what we got so we listened to her take orders at the table next to us. Low and behold she said and you and you. We laughed at the same time, and you and you, we continued to say this to each other the hole day. Well then we recieved our food. Slame the plate hit the table, YES SHE THROWS THE PLATE AT US. Really this was the last visit, she was rude like a robot and literally throws the plate at us. We left the restaurant so disgusted that we will NEVER return. Its really to bad because the food was wonderful. She really should not be a server she was awful. Again its to bad because like the saying goes ( I"m going to tell 2 friends and so on and so on. Thank you

bad management
You know, I have actually been employeed for this company for about seven months now. I have never before witnessed such a poor display of management ability. The GM of this store is out right rude, disruptive to production, harrassing to employees, shovanistic, shows complete favortism. To sum it up he is a shovanistic, egatistical pig. He has total lack of respect for anyone who is under him. His complete management theory is that "I am, so there fore I can". This is no way to run a business. Since I have been there a manager and two employees have been fired for code of conduct and harrasement. For this to happen in less than a five month period shows that this type of behavior is allowed. The only time the management gets involved is when he is in fear of his own statis. Tell me why there is only one male server on the floor and non have been hired or interviewed. The current male server is only on the floor because he was there before this GM took position. The GM show complete signs of discrimination. This is not an equal opportunity employer. He makes the servers cry. He writes employees up for things just because he is made. But doesn't write everyone up that does the same thing. He mainly only writes up those he gets mad at. Employees have been asked to leave the building instead of being allowed to clock in for their shift and never served termination papers, they leave there not knowing if they have a job or not. Company policies are not uniformly followed from one employee to another. This is clearly a man that loves to prove he is a man and push around women. It is wrong. No one deserves to be made to feel like they are worthless just because they make a mistake or the boss doesn't have control. When things fall apart and he looses control, he takes it out on who ever is there at the time. He is nasty in his words chosen. He doesn't appologize either. This is wrong and no one should be subjected to this type of management. Just the other day he made a decision and did not relay it to other management. So she mad a decision based on her knowledge. But because it was against what he said he made her cry by yelling at her in the front of the house, in front of customers and other employees instead of taking her to the office the way policy is to be followed. He makes his own rules as he goes along. If he sees anything on the break table he throws it away. You know, some of us do not drink pop or coffee so we don't drink the companies beverages. We like to bring our own. He throws them away to be mean. We pay for this stuff, and to be told we can't have anything to drink in the break room is unlawful. You can't force someone to drink the companies beverages and you can't throw away something someone has paid for. If i took something you paid for and threw it away you could have me arrested for theft, right. This is not right and something needs to be done. Someone needs to say something but everyone at the store is in fear of their jobs and they have families to support. You should not have to feel like this, as a grown adults trying to make money to support our families. Your shifts get cut just for laughing or asking a question. What makes this right? Please someone tell me .

food cold
I went to Ihop last night with my family. I love eating there, but last night we got there at 6:55. I order a hot coffee. When the waiter finally gave it to me it was cold. We had ordered a appetizer. They gave it to us at the end after we ate all the food and needed the check. We didn't get our food till near 9:00 and there was hardly anyone in there. The staff was all confused. They looked like that had a attitude. The lady gave the wrong table our to go box. Crazy. I asked them for a bigger plate too because the three pancakes I had was on a small plate. I couldn't put syrup on there. They never brought it to me..This restaurant was crazy.

service
IHOP opened a new resturant in Picayune MS. I took my family and my mother in law to eat there 1-22-2011. The resturant was not busy at all. Maybe 5 tables total. We waited an hour and twenty minutes for food. My family was through eating by the time I got my meal. The manager and the owner came to our table to apologize, but they still brought us a bill for over 65 dollars. The more I think about it, the more angry I get.

Managers
This Ihop has poor managers, 3400 Williams Boulevard, Kenner, LA 70065-3726 I have eaten there quite a few times, and I do not like the way the managers treat the waitresses, I over heard them. They have some of these waitresses and hostess nervous. I would like to know who the owners are, so I can talk to them. There is a couple of waitresses, and hostess that I really like, they have been very nice to me. They work over night, that is when I go there to eat. I am very uncomfortable with the managers that work there, I have seen them, and they don't act right.

POOR SERVICE AND ENVIRONMENT
My friends and I are frequent patrons at IHOP (3141) 4934 Centre Point. We visit at least 2-3 times a week. We decided to visit the Ihop on Ashley Phosphate in N. Charleston and were greeted by an unusual smell after deciding to keep up with our ritual we order in spite of the odor, the limited menu items, and higher costs. As we waited for our meal to be delivered we noticed layers and layers of dust on the borders of the wall around the window seals, shades and emergency lights, mildew, wet stains on the ceiling and spider webs. We then received our food and informed our server (Ashley) of the problem she kindly and remorsefully apologized and informed us that she will send over the General Manager (George), a few minutes later (Joyce) the store manager presented herself slightly agitated and nonchalant about our complaints. She stated, “that they were working on cleaning up the store". I asked if a store is this dirty why not shut down for a day to get store in order? She replied that they were handling this and walked away. A few minutes later Ashley came over to check on us and we told her after the attitude of her manager and seeing this place in this condition the kitchen may be worse therefore we did not want our food and believed we should not pay for food we had not eaten. We literally ate two spoons of our breakfast. Ashley informed her manager of situation, Joyce came over to our table with officer with Officer Wallace id #193 and informed us if we did not pay he would file trespassing charges and arrest us for not paying. I have never experienced this kind of disrespect at any restaurant my friends and I vowed to never return to IHOP.
