Beware of Steven Michalak from Illinois Home Loans. He kept telling us he was going to go over all our options with us but kept canceling appointments until it came down to the wire. He showed up with only 1 offer, less than a week before our closing and we felt pressured to take it because he kept telling us he would refinance us for no cost to a better loan a month later. Well after closing with a full financed loan that he did not disclose all the fees for, we finally found someone that told us what to look for when refinancing. Steve came to do our refinance and offered us a loan with a much higher percentage rate and it still had 1 point. If we would have took this loan it would have cost us thousands of extra dollars over the course of the loan. We found somebody else to do out refinance. Every time I asked him a question I got double talk. We thought we were friends with him, but if this is the way he treats friends, I'd hate so see how he treats non-friends.
