Fraud/Dishonesty
I wanted to have my son represented by a modeling agency. During the initial meeting with Industry Models, I was told that I had a choice of 4 or 5 packages ranging from $550 to $1300, depending on how many professional shots I wanted my sons profile to have. I was also told that composite cards could be purchased at $1.75 - $4.00 per card. I ended up ordering the $850 package, thinking that the $850 would be all that was required to have my son marketed to different clothing companies, commercials, etc. What I found out from a friend the next day, after they were ripped off, was that the $850 was ONLY for the photo shoot, and that I would need to purchase a minimum of 50 composite cards (at $4 apiece), ie - an additional $225 - $450, if I actually wanted my sons pictures seen/marketed, and this additional cost would only pay for 6 months of marketing. I immediately called Industry and requested a refund based on the fact that the prices for their services were not properly explained to me and they werent completely honest in our initial meeting, (mind you I hadnt had the photo shoot yet), but was told that the contract I signed contained a no refund policy and they couldnt/wouldnt do anything for me. When I was given the contract to sign, at no time was I told that there was a no refund policy, or that there would be additional costs for services. Again, though the price of composite cards was mentioned, I was NEVER told that I would be required to purchase a minimum of 50 cards ($225 total) for marketing of my child and if these cards werent purchased, then noone would ever see my childs photos. Basically without more money being spent, the $850 means nothing. I feel this fake company was very dishonest and misrepresented their services to me. They need to be investigated and closed down for unfair business practices.
