A model waiting for her money March 31, 2009

Not paying

This "agency" that goes by many names (Indy Models, 1st Place Models, Statement Models), as does the owner (Allen Knauer aka Allen Longstreet), owes many models for jobs that were completed in early to mid 2008. When contacting the agency-- which now answer the phone "Agency Models" no doubt due to the fact that they have a difficult time remembering their multiple aliases-- you are never given an honest answer as to when the money is coming (that is IF you can actually get someone on the phone). They will tell you "the check is in the mail" and then three months later tell you that it's still coming. I don't think the mail was that slow even in the days of horseback delivery. Then I see online they've told other girls they were waiting on clearance from the courts to send out money because they're doing a restructuring?? At the very least, pick a story and stick to it.
This company has owed me a thousand dollars for over a year. I completed the job and the company that I was contracted to work for adored me and told us when we were working that they had paid Allen upfront for the services so they were certain the turn around time for our checks would be quite quick.
Unfortunately that wasn't the case and Allen Knauer aka Allen Longstreet is a con artist.
DO NOT work for Allen Knauer (or any of his multiple personalities) or any of his "agencies" unless of course you like working for free or enjoy being harassed when you try to collect your fees.

Not paying

I never got paid, they owe me $750. I did the work like I was suppose too. Everything on my end was good. They scammed me and the company I worked for. Also, they led me on thinking that I would get paid. I got scammed, and I am taking action. They are still looking for more models to join them, please spread the word. I already told the company I worked for, I wrote this:

Hi,

I worked for your company through Statement models at the Citrix Synergy Expo at the George R Brown convention center in Houston, TX on May 20, 21, and 22, 2008...

(I aksed them to contact the agency and they did. I know they paid statement models, because the other girl was paid and not me.)

His emails: This is the latest one I got today.

Jennifer,

There is no one here to respond to your email. I am collecting the mail and clearing the inbox.

It is very unlikely that any checks will be mailed this week. We are not open this week. I don't know if we will open next week or not. You are on the list to be processed but the agency is not open and is currently not generating any income. I have updated your address so that anything that is mailed to you will go to the correct place.

I know you are frustrated but it truly is pointless to write or call. Checks will go in the mail the first day it is possible to put them there. We do not have an estimated date. Responding is pointless...it could be days before anyone reads it.

We have filed for a reorganization and that process is not done. It is not bankruptcy; we're just realigning our debt into a schedule. Once done, we can start paying it. With any luck, it will be done by 10/31. We are as anxious to get it done as you are. Most likely, you will receive your payment in 2 or 3 installments and not in one check. You are at the top of the list (# 2 if I remember correctly) to be paid. If all goes as planned, we'll be sending checks the first week of November. That is 11 days from now. We'll be just as happy as you are when it's done.

We are told that we will be able to pay contractors again starting sometime around November 1st. Our reorganization plan is almost done.

Our client has notified us that you have made contact with them regarding payment. This is a violation of terms. You do not have a contractual relationship with our client. Your conduct is considered injurious to our business and we can recover damages for such actions.

I urge you to consider seeking legal counsel before you do something of this nature again.

The best answer I can give you is that it will be soon. We have a very complicated court filing that is to be completed by October 3 and things will be much clearer after that.
