I purchased several sets and individual pieces of Ultrex and Ultrex II cookware from HSN in 2004 and 2005, including a stovetop wok with venting steam lid. The product remained in a sealed package until last week when I finally had cause to use it. The food cooked fine and the product performed as expected. After cooking the food and removing the pot from the burner, the glass lid while on the pot, exploded, shattering into thousands of pieces that did not stay contained within the metal confines of the lid, but broke into the pot with shards flying across my stove and kitchen. The venting was set to "open" so air was circulating beneath the lid within the pot. And the pot was no longer on a heated burner.
HSN refuses to discuss the matter. Am attempting to locate last known contact info for Innova or a successor corporation. HSN as a merchant in the stream of commerce by selling the product does have a responsibility to consumers and their denial of liability is appalling.
