Yet ANOTHER complaint against these people and their unfair practices!! I had a contract with another alarm company which IASG bought out. I had this contract and paid FAITHFULLY for three years with never a late or missed payment. When I called to cancel the contract (went with ADT) because they were too expensive I find that they ahve renewed my contract for another THREE years without my realizing it (it was in VERY tiny print). I sent a certified letter requesting cancellation of the contract which I was told to do by a phone rep and requested that the contract be cancelled and that they stop automatic withdraws from my bank account (which I had to pay 28.00 for) and was told that that was no guarantee that the withdraw amount would stop (couldn't understand that either). I was subsequently sent a letter from IASG in response to my certified letter (which I received today 10 March 2006) informing me that I would have to pay for another three years. I could stay in the contract and pay over $1100.00 until 2009 OR they would offer me a settlement amount of 867.00 to get out. I WAS SHOCKED that after three years of paying my bill on time and never late and only having made an "offense" of asking to cancel my contract two weeks after I should have that they could not make an exception. "You are in a binding contract and you WILL pay us for another 3 years" is what I was told. I ended up putting a charge of 867.00 on a credit card (which I cannot afford) and paying to get out. THIS COMPANY IS NOTHING BUT A RIP-OFF!!! IF YOU DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE BE VERY AWARE OF WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO. IASG could have let me out of this deal with no repurcussion on their part given that they are so large but they choose to rip people off!!!
