I cannot tell you how disappointed I am at this so called “school.” I went International Academy of Design & Technology-Chicago & I am one of the few people who are lucky enough to get out of this place before they bankrupt me.

Tuition
IADT costs nearly $35, 000-$40, 000 a year! This is ridiculous! Attending any Ivy League school is cheaper than this institution. The interesting thing is while I was there for only a short 6 months they managed to raise the cost of per credit hour by more than $100 dollars! IADT only cares about your money not about education. If anything, this proves how greedy the owners of this school are.

Financial Aid
The people here are a bunch of condescending liars! They don’t tell you anything you need to know. I’m still very confused about my money. The school gives you a debit/credit card that’s under IADT. I haven’t used it & I assure you I won’t because this is very strange to me. I went to 2 other universities before this so I know this does not usually happen. The other strange thing is when I was paying for my books they said I didn’t owe any money because they would credit it to my tuition! They are using my money for books and they are charging interest on it. It’s kind of like when you get your credit card bill and you have the option of using cash advances. You don’t have to pay now but they’ll charge you more later! I owed $300 dollars for my books/supplies and now it’s probably a lot more!

Accreditation
IADT is not considered as an accredited school. This school is “for profit” and is privately owned by CEC. In other words, IADT accredited themselves. It is nationally accredited but not regionally. That means none of you classes will transfer to a regular college or university. Your “degree” at IADT means nothing because you can’t continue your education without having to start all over. You can only obtain a bachelors degree at IADT. Forget getting a Masters or MBA that’s not possible because other universities/colleges don’t see this institution as a school and your credits at IADT is worthless.

Admissions
Getting into this school was simply too easy. You just need to meet with an admissions representative for an interview and you’re in. I will gladly name my rep., Adonis Exom, who told me nothing but lies. He kept assuring me that the school helps students find a job when they graduate. This is simply not true. Just read all the other reports about students that were not helped by this school. I was surprised I got in without having to submit my grades or my ACT scores. They take everyone. I was also really insulted when he asked me how much money was in my bank account. It’s none of his business and it was rude for him to ask. After about 3 days I got in, the school terminated my application because I didn’t respond to their phone calls! They said they called me but they did not leave any messages. I got into a car accident and so I had to take care of it. But it was so unprofessional of him (Adonis) how he handled this situation. If it was up to me, he’d be fired!

Teachers
I’ve had some of the easiest teachers in my life at IADT. The IT teacher was teaching a math course which she hadn’t taught for more than 3 years. She clearly knew nothing about the subject. The students were actually helping her instead of the teacher helping us. In one of my computer classes, my teacher said on the very first day that if you did all your homework you would not only get an A but you’ll even get a letter or recommendation. I got an A & a letter of recommendation and I didn’t learn a thing. Perhaps they shouldn’t allow students to take open notes tests. I just don’t understand how some of these “teachers” got hired.

Classes
IADT offers some of the most ridiculous classes. Everyone has to take a course called College Success. This is a joke because they teach students how to be successful in college! I was actually taking notes as my teacher was explaining how to take proper notes in college. In my art class we learned that red+blue=violet, something we all knew in grade school. My photography class was stupid. We all know how to take pictures and we rarely used photoshop. Save your money and go to a school where teachers are serious about educating their students.

Textbooks
Well I can honestly say although we were required to buy them I hardly needed to use any of my books. More proof that the school only wants your money. The teachers will assure you on your very first day to purchase the book asap. You’ll learn later on that it was not necessary.

Materials
IADT is an art school and the students pay a lot, so I find it interesting they don’t have any art studios. You have to purchase a very expensive and large art bag that nearly weights about 30lbs. It was torture for me to carry that bag in the train. The school does not provide any art supplies. We even had to buy our own scissors! My 8th grade art class had more to provide than this stupid intuition. All that money that students pay for tuition is obviously not going to the school.

Overall, save you money and go to a real school. Iadt is completely useless and you will not learn anything. They will take your money without providing you satisfactory education. Avoid going to any tv college because they’re all frauds. For more information on trade schools go here:
