As a gift, my sister bought me an inflatable queen size mattress at Amazon.com, in March 2010. It was not unpacked or used until several weeks later due to its intended user being away.
Weeks later, while inflating the mattress there was a loud noise and a huge bubble on the right lower side. Then days later another bubble sprouted in the middle of the mattress that deformed the mattress making it a grotesque shape and unusable, also dangerous because it would overturn when someone lay on it.
A call to INTEX with the complaint and request for a replacement claim was not accepted by INTEX, customer service claims that the mattress has no warranty and there was nothing that could be done. That the mattress should not be inflated for more than 2-3 minutes and referred me to a internet video where some kids over-inflated a mattress and all that happened was air began to leak out, then I was referred to Amazon.
It looks like a manufacturers defect caused the stitching to rip on the inside, because the air does not leak out.
I wanted to return it to amazon, but the packaging was not available and I could not return it to Amazon, because its been more than 30 days from purchase.
According to the instructions that came with this product the mattress could not be inflated for more than 10 minutes. I never inflated it for more than 3-4 minutes because there was no need to do so, the mattress felt comfortable.
