My security system failed(McAfee), I googled McAfee and called the first website that appeared(iyogi.com).They immediately took control of my computer, touched a lot of settings and told me there were numerous things wrong with my computer. These things had to be fixed before they can fix my security system(my computer has never given any trouble). At this point there is no question I was held HOSTAGE, It cost me 169.99 to get my computer back in working order.
hey insisted I had to fix all these things before they could fix my security system(at this point I was held HOSTAGE).It cost me 169.99 to get them off of my computer

Virus and Software
I contacted Iyogi after searching interent for help with networking concerning my router. After paying a 1 year membership for computer help and antivrus. They assisted me in fixing my network after 2 hours. The folowing day the computer they set up crashed and the other computer had a virus from inbox. I contacted them and they said my membership was only good for my laptop and they could not assist me in my other pc that they had worked on with out purchasing another membership. In order to use my computer I had to restore to a date before they worked on my computer!

No refund
Today I recieved a text message from my bank that a charge was processed on my mastercard. I knew right away that something was incorrect because I hadnt used my mastercard today I was at work all day couldnt had! I called my bank ASAP and was told a charge was on my account for 39.99 from a company called Iyogi . I have never heard of this company before and had no clue what to do. Thank God my bank had a customer service number and provided me with a transaction number. I called Iyogi and was told I DID make the purchase for what Im not even sure of still at this moment and that there would not be any refund or reversal of the transaction!! I was shocked!!! I asked Mr Sujit Kumar to speak with a supervisor and was told Id be told the same thing that he was telling me NO REFUNDS!! I couldnt believe this!I then asked Mr Kumar to explain to me what this service was that was purchased to this he couldnt expalin just kept telling me they were teck support! For what I DO NOT KNOW! He could not provide any further info after asking him to explain this several times he then explained to me that NOW he could do a refund and the funds would be placed back in the account.Im not sure if I will EVER see the refund I did recieve a email confirming the reund request was processed but Im not hopful at all I can see days of calling this company! Ive never been treated like this from a company before.

Service
I read reviews left by Americans and found them ridiculous!! First of all, Americans are dumb enough to not fix their own problems. Secondly, they want free support whereas they don't think twice before queuing up for hours for iphone or some such fad to spend money. Americans themselves won't work for free but want to get work done for free from Indians. They come up with computer issues never imagined off {eg. broken coffee tray which is actually a DVD player} and would blame HP, Dell, Acer and what not if there is an issue completely unrelated to their computer manufacturers and swear that they would never buy a Dell or whatever in life again - what a sacrifice. They are paranoid of everything in this world. Forget it not guys...only because you get cheap labor in countries like India that you are able to save money.

fraud
Tried to get Avast Antivrus Free as I have done a couple of times before for small personal computer but this time got directed to a site with which I was not fmiliar for it to be downloaded. It was downloaded by iYogi. I paid a fee of $169 to have "full technical support" for one year. It has not been honored. I suspect that somehow iYogi has infected the Avast site, using it as a front to get subscriptions and then doing the download as the benefit for purchasing their service. When I tried to call for support ( I cannot get them on the internet) they did not respond.

Misrepresentation
I'm embarassed to say it, but I too was scamed by this company. Upgraded from free AVAST to 'latest' antivirus software. Was connected to someone (in India?) very difficult to understand. Was told they would 'take care' of' my desk top computer and my laptop for $169.99 per year. A reasonable fee. I just got off the phone with a 'supervisor' to a supervisor (probably another tech guy). They originally 'captured' my desktop computer and my wireless laptop. However, when I called in tonight for help with my laptop, I was told their policy was not to 'protect' two computers for $169.99. I sat, for a LONG time, and WATCHED them 'capture' my desktop AND my Laptop!!! Now they are saying they have no record of capturing my laptop. Unbelievable! Makes me very nervous that I let someone capture my computer and they don't even have record of it. Basically, the 'supervisor' said they probably made a mistake and will take it into 'consideration'. Don't get 'stuck' like I did. Use a virus protector other than AVAST, since they have hired these people to be their 'tech support', and definetly don't use iYogi for tech support!

Unethical service
IYogi is unethical, cheaters, no customer service and they do not provide the services they promise! I attempted to purchase an antivirus for my laptop computer. As I tried to install, the website directed me to IYogi for set up assistance (free of charge). When i was connected to IYogi's tech support they connected to my computer and said my computer was already infected with viruses and the McAfee antivirus could not help. They offered to fix this problem if I signed on for 1 year of tech support for $140, which would include unlimited tech support for any computer related issues. I naively belived what they were offering little did I know they were scamming me. The next time I turned on my computer all my files where gone. Family pictures, personal documents, music, everything saved on my computer was gone. If that was not bad enough, my computer now is infected with a virus and it crashed. When I tried to call their tech support they hung up the phone on me twice, then they put me directly to hold music which ended by disconnection. At the end of the day I'm short $179.99 (yes they charged me $39.99 more I don't know for what!), my laptop is useless, and all of my important documents and pictures are gone. I would never recommend this company, do not use their services, if I could have given them a rating less than 1 they would receive from me a 0.

I was told that I was paying for software to remove virus, instead I was sold technical support
On Friday May 6, 2011, I googled netgear to get help to make my netgear router secure, instead of unsecure. I got the phone number and called. When I called they answered "Iyogi". I asked was this the free technical support for netgear, because I had one year free technical support. I was told that I had dialed the right number and they were technical support for netgear. I was then told that my computer had a virus and I had to purchase software for $169.99 to remove the virus, then they would be able to help me set up a secure router network. I purchased the "software". On May 7, 2011, I called back, because I had another problem with my computer and was told that I had another virus on my computer and someone tried to sell me somemore "software". I refused to buy anything else. When I said I had just purchased some "software" on yesterday, I was told that I didn't buy "software" on yesterday, I purchased "technical support". I tried to call the company back to talk to someone about this, was put on hold each time, and then the phone hung up several times. I sent an e-mail to the company and asked that they not charge my card because I was told that I purchased software to remove a virus and not technical support, besides I have free technical support for my new laptop and for netgear router for one year, why would I want to purchase some technical support? I never had problems with my laptop until I called "Iyogi". All I wanted and needed to do was get my netgear router secured. This is a scam and a rip off! Buyer be aware.

Total scam. Did not fix my computer.
I cannot believe McAfee Antivirus endorses this company and connects you with them for technical issues. They are of course in India, and your complaints are given to their "claims department", who will contact you in 7-8 business days to process your refund. I got on the phone and called my credit card company, reported the fraud, and closed the account before $179.00 was charged for nothing!! The guy online did not fix my computer!! Also calling iYogi back is difficult. Better copy down that 16 digit account ID before it flashes off your screen at the beginning of the service. You won't see it again, and of course, they can't locate your account.

credit card fraud
I was contacted by a credit-card fraud investigator last week. He told me that there were three charges on my Visa account that appeared to be fraudulent. He reviewed them with me: One dated 3/12/11 for $23.95 for "Cinemax" in Mombai, India, and on the same day, $945.41, charged to "Big Bazaar", also in Mombai. Just by looking over my charges, it was obvious that I could not have been anywhere near India at that time. There was a third charge for Bed, Bath and Beyond, a local store, dated the day before, for about $100. I haven't shopped there in at least five years. I suspect that this was an iYogi charge by phone. I haven't had any credit card problems with anyone else.
I strongly suspect some of the iYogi staff were responsible for the fraud because they are the only business in India I have ever paid by credit card. They are the only ones with my number. I won't be using my credit card in this way again.
Just a day or so before the fraud happened, the technician who was helping me at iYogi was not able to solve my problem, and, at the same time a man from my church, who is very computer savvy, came along and was able to fix it. He is actually an old friend I have worked with in the church office, and he does not want to charge me anything to be on call to help me. I cancelled my services with iYogi, and they had to refund $300. It's not too much of a stretch to think that they were angry at me for cancelling and got back at me by running up my credit card.
iYogi has given me some good service over the past couple of years. They nearly always have solved the problem. They were always courteous and polite.
