service
I signed up for a two year subscription after being informed there was over 8000 technicians. The first call was answered professionally but took a long time--over 3 hours. After that it took 5 hours to return my call and I had solved the issue myself. I would definitely NOT recommend iYogi and you can't get a refund if they solve even one problem!

Not quite 'good karma'
I've recently signed up, and then canceled a one year agreement with iYogi. The whole process was somewhat of a nightmare and I'd only wished I done my research before signing on with them for the year. In the end, I did get a refund, but what it took to get there is amazing and unforgivable.
Last week, I received a virus in the middle of writing a final term paper. Earlier in the day I had let a friend of mine use the machine to watch the awards on tv. He was unable to find a good site to watch it on, but he did find a site that filled my computer with loads of crap. The resulting viruses and 'malware' as it was explained, was the reason why I lost my paper that evening.
I iYogi showed up in some search results, and eager to get something done, I contacted them on the website to process payment and get my paper back and computer cleaned. After 3 failed attempts to run my card, they finally got it to work on a friends visa. The guy connects to the machine, for 2 hours (mind you, this is at 12am.) After 2 hours of troubleshooting and trying to remove the virus, I say goodnight to Muhammad and go in search of another service.
I ran some google searches and found secure remote support. They had a nifty lil box that I could talk to the technician through right on their website. The representative was able to give me an exact figure of what is was to cast to optimize my computer and said he could do it from their office and I wouldn't need to take it anywhere. I was able to pay with my credit card on their site (which iYogi couldn't do!) which made it easy for me. The technician then started his process and in less than an hour I was surprised at how fast and clean my computer was again. It was like it was new all over again. I had forgot how fast it was. The technician, then recovered my word document and was able to get all of it except that last page that I had written. The technician thanked me for my business upon completion. This was all at 2am! He sold me the service for about 80 bucks, and an external hard drive which arrived last week (to back up all my school work.)
The end result, was me filing a BBB complaint against iYogi, finally getting my money back, and giving my business to a company like secure remote support. They actually earn it, and do a good job. Do your research before you buy. No one wants to get stuck in my situation, not fun.

wasted my time, tried to sell me a pkg
I was referred to them by PC Shield Deluxe when I complained I wanted to remove the PC Shield Deluxe as it had expired and I won't use it again. Iyogi spent one hour diddling around on my laptop, but trying to sell me their pkg for "protection". i said: i'll ck it out but right now, all I want is what you promised: get rid of the PC Shield Deluxe...more diddling, put me on hold for "minute", 10 minutes later i saw they did not know how to remove it either, used up nearly an hour's worth of my cell minutes. i disconnected and hung up. Don't call them for anything. martha

forced to buy product
I was having trouble with my Windows not finding my anti-virus software on my computer, so I called Microsoft to get help in troubleshooting my problem. They transfered me to what they called their tech support and I then found out it was something called Iyogi.
They told me that they couldn't help me unless I bnought this program and used their tech support I told them that I didn't have the amount of money that they required for their assiatance. They first told me that it would be bewteen $100.00 and $200.00 dollars for them to help me. I was ouraged, then they told me about their touble shooting program and it was only $139.99 for a year of unlimited tech support, I told them I don't have that kind of money, I live on Disability, then they told me about a plan for two years unlimited that was just $249.99. I said, "You're kidding right, I just said that I couldn't afford $139.99, now you're trying to force me to buy something even more expensive?" Also they screwed around, kept putting me on hold and cutting off my connection, using up over 120 of my valuable cell minutes.
That took place on April 5th, 2010 and today one week later, they took $139.99 out of my checking account. I was "hot", I called them and told them I wanted my money back, the guy that I talked to ask me what was the problem why did I want my money back, so of course I had to go through the whole story again, about them forcing me to buy something I didn't want. I told him flat out that they are crooks and I want my money refunded. He told he'd do it. but I can only get $80.00, not the total $139.99 that was taken from me. I ask him why I can't get the whole amount back and he told me that the remainder was a service fee. I asked him why, because you didn't give me any service I figured out the problem by myself.
Well, of course he just said that he couldn't do anything about it. I just couldn't get it back.
I'm just letting you all know that Iyogi are crooks and you'd be better off to ask a friend to help you with your trouble shooting or to figure it out yourself, unless, of course you havemoney that you don't mind throwing away.

SCAM
Companies are using IYogi for their IT support...Microsoft, Shield Deluxe, HP etc. When you call for assistance technician tells you there are more problems and in order for them to help you you must purchase their $139.00 computer repair package. I paid this and the technician started working on my computer and in the middle of the job he said it was time for him to go home. He said he would finish the next day...in the mean time he had taken my virus protection and my spyware protection off my computer leaving me unprotected.
The next day he never called. I called IYogi and they disconnected the call twice...when I finally got someone
they told me the technician was busy and it would be a couple of hours...it never happen. They i was told they would fix it at 8:00 on Friday...never happen. I finally Called Deluxe Sales department and told them what happen and they got me in touch with one of their own technicians...Thank God...someone knowledgeable and from AMERICA to finally fix it. This is so typical Corporate America...outsourcing to India where the labor is cheap and you get exactly what you pay for!! Be ware when you call technical support for Microsoft, HP, Compact, Shield Deluxe you are getting a TERRIBLE COMPANY by the name of IYogi from India and they are scam artists and will try to make you buy their package before they will help. As Americans we need to boycott these companies that are outsourcing...this is why Americans do not have jobs. We need to send these companies a message.
