On May 11, 2009 I talked to Mr. Greene on the telephone about taking out marine insurance on our shrimp boat Cancer Free. When doing so he ask me question on the application and I would answer. He ask me where the boat was docked at that time and I told him it was in Bayou La Batre at the state docks where it was being worked on to get ready for the shrimping season. He ask me questions like how old the boat was, the name, who would be working on it when it departed and a question about what waters the boat would be navitgating. At that time I was under the impression when he ask where it would be navigating that he wanted to know what waters it would be leaving from. Mr. Greene never explained to me what he meant by that question he just answered it and said Mobile Bay and I said yes he would be working there and all over for my husband was trying to get the boat ready for an opening the following Monday May 18, 2009. I never questioned him as he is the agent but I did notice he didn't have time to explain the policy to me for he had a doctors appointment in Gulf Breeze that afternoon and was in a hurry to get out of there. I did read over the application when I got home and found out that my husband was not covered on the policy and did call him back to have him added. What I'm trying to say is that we thought boat insurance was like car insurance you take it out in Mobile and it covers you where ever you go but this wasn't the case with this insurance. He knew our boat was in Bayou La Batre and he sold me insurance which he never specified that it was only covered if it was in Mobile Bay which our boat never was since we bought it in February and there is know place for our boat to dock there. Our boat sank on May 18, 2009 due to high winds and rough waters in the Mississippi Sound and now the insurance he sold us that we paid over $2, 500.00 for will not cover our lose due to him putting Mobile Bay on the application and policy that we had know idea meant we could only be in those waters if something went wrong with our boat. He told me that the policy wasn't going to covered the boat because it was in Mississippi waters it was only covered in Mobile Bay which it never was. My husband has worked on the water for 42 years and has never had anything like this happen to him before and we are very upset that all of our money and insurance money that we paid they say will not cover this lose due to Mr. Greene knowing our boat wasn't in Mobile Bay and was in Bayou La Batre and would never be working just in Mobile Bay. We feel he has done us an injustice as he has done plenty of people in the commercial shrimping business in Bayou La Batre that we have talked to since this happened to us.
