My name is Victor Lopez and I am a student at Georgia Gwinnett College. I was in need of a job so I went to apply for a job at Jackson Lawn Service, LLc. I found his ad on craigslist for help needed. I went into his office after a phone call to come in and apply. He hired me on the spot to come work the next day at 8am. We had a verbal agreement of $10 an hour. During my first couple of hours there I realized the working conditions were not so great or safe so I decided to quit. My co-worker on shift with me text our boss at 2pm. that I wanted to quit so when Jackson (my boss) told me he would only pay me $8 an hour, but that was not what we had agreed on. In any case I just wanted to get paid something so I would take $8 at that point just to get rid of trouble. He said he would mail me my check by that Friday which I never received. We have had a couple of texts back and forth with him acting like I am trying to scam him and now is refusing to pay me anything at all. Everything happened so informally, but I just want to get paid for the 6 hours I worked that day, even if it is just $48, originally being owed $80.
