DON'T GO TO JACKSONVILLE UNIVERSITY (IEP) THE COURSES ARE A COMPLETE RIP OFF!! AND THEY WON'T REFUND YOU!!

There were many problems that occurred with the Jacksonville IEP course that I attended in Paris this year including the following:


Photography Course:

- As written on your website: ‘Throughout this digital photography course maximize your time on the streets of Paris by developing your skills on assignment and in the field.’ The course did not maximize our time on the streets at all, we were kept in a small oppressive room with no windows and with a ridiculous amount of homework.
- Made to go to a Photography excursion with no teacher when we could have done this by ourselves (a day wasted).
- We only had one class with in the first two weeks where we could review our work one on one with the teacher and she ended up being ‘sick’ (another day wasted).
- Some student were able to bring their friends into class for FREE, joining in on class activities at other students expense.
- I walked out of the class infuriated and informed the teacher that I was not happy with the students’ friends getting involved with class for free. The teacher responded by saying that I ‘needed to take some responsibility’ instead of asking the people in the class that weren’t paying for tuition to politely leave.


Painting Course:

- A day spent buying materials that could have been pre packaged in bulk by the school (a day wasted).
- Two classes were cancelled because a some of the class were going to Italy for a few days.
- The teacher said he would have a class on his day off to make up for the classes lost by this excursion, but the teacher didn’t turn up and didn’t even bother sending a messenger or SMS’ing to say he wasn’t coming (another day wasted)!.
- Made to go to a Painting excursion with no teacher when we could have done this by ourselves (yet another day wasted).
- A student brought her boyfriend into class for free.
- In my opinion, the one on one help with my teacher was greatly effected by the issues with his wife’s class. As much as I liked the teacher as a person, I don’t see this as very professional.
- In one session the teacher turned up 30 mins late to a class and only saw me for 5 mins at the end class (and only because I called out his name when he was leaving). He then left 25 minutes early ‘to grab a coffee’ when he was still supposed to be in charge of the class.

Other Issues:

- I definitely felt ostracised by some of the Jacksonville University students for having complaining about students friends having free board and tutorials.
- Generally I felt the course was geared towards USA college students who had everything paid for by their parents (and there for didn't care if class time was slack).
- I felt the teachers, (in particular the painting subject) generally treated this course as a holiday first and then as a job, rather than the other way round.
- I WAS UNABLE TO GET A REFUND FOR THE CLASSES LOST AND THAT WERE FALSELY ADVERTISED! (and I was only asking for a 15% refund!)
