JCS Fashions Reviews

Mark Clarke May 26, 2011

I ordered five shirts, all size large in various colors, from Denim Basement (also know as JCS Fashions). My total order came to $147.87 (4 shirts @32.95, 1 shirt @32.50, minus a 10% discount). These shirts were advertised as new, genuine Polo shirts. What I received from Denim Basement were 2 extra large shirts, two shirts that were the wrong color and one shirt with a stitch repair on the left shoulder.

Denim Basement advertised their merchandise as genuine; however, this claim is false. The shirts I received were cheap imitations. The dimensions of the shirts were not the same as Polo shirts that can be purchased at an upscale department store. The collars on the shirts measured between 18 and 18 ½ inches and the chest sizes were all different. On the inside of the shirts small gauze patches were fused to the polo phony emblem. These gauze patches are called stabilizers and are usually found on cheap, mass produced garments. A genuine Ralph Lauren Polo shirt would not have this patch on the inside. One of the shirts had a small stitch repair on the left shoulder. The labels sewn into the shits were different colors, one color for the Polo label and a different color for the size tag. A garment care instructions label was not sewn into the garment. A genuine polo garment would have the same color labels as well as a care instruction label.

When I ordered this merchandise, Denim Basement was advertising free shipping with orders over $150.00 and a %10 discount. Denim Basement’s retune policy states that there will be a 15% restocking fee on all returned merchandize. I agreed to the conditioned offered by Denim Basement because I was told from their website that I would receive genuine Polo merchandise.

However, I did not receive what was promised to me by Denim Basement and because of their error and false claims; I returned 4 of the shirts and kept one. Denim Basement then charged me for the free shipping (although I had to pay $8.00 to ship back the unwanted merchandise), plus a restocking fee.

Denim Basement credited back to me $90.69. That means I am paying $57.18 for a shirt that was advertised at $32.50 and the shirt has a stitch repair on the left shoulder.

My experience with Denim Basement (JCS Fashions) is not unique. An internet search returned several complaints against Denim Fashion and JSC Fashions. The same business practices I experienced, wrong sizes shipped, non- refund of money, and fake merchandise were experienced by several others.

What Denim Basement is doing is a simple scam. Advertise popular fashion merchandise at low, low prices. Offer free shipping and a discount to entice consumers to purchase what they are led to believe is the real thing. Ship the wrong colors and wrong sizes to the unsuspecting customer and when the customer receives the bogus merchandise they two options, return the merchandise and pay the return shipping cost, a shipping charge and a 15% restocking fee from Denim Fashions or keep the fake merchandise that came in the wrong size and wrong color. Either way, Denim Basement makes money.
