I brought my Daughter car shopping in January (2011) we first looked at the new car dealerships and then decided to look for a used vehicle instead (Leasing for a 17 year old is not an option)... I had seen JD Motors ads in the Auto Trader and their inventory looked promising. We initially had gone to look at a 2004 VW Jetta but were directed by who we found out later was the owner (Leonard DiMaggio) to see the vehicle at the "other" store (Lyncourt Car care) So we took the ride out to the other location. There the salesman gave us a very different story. He said that this location was his and that JD Motors did used to own it but had turned it over to him (Jason) .. there was no heat in the building and the salesman said it was too cold to sit inside so we stood outside while he started the car for us. (It was colder out there) The first thing we noticed was the check engine light was on. Jason assured us that any repairs the vehicle needed would be completed before the vehicle was delivered. But he seemed agitated and made many remarks about the ex owners business practices. I hate car salesman to begin with.. I won't lie, but Jason did seem honest enough and I felt bad for him when he explained that in fact The heat had been turned off by the previous owner ( I did find out later however Jason had lied and that Lyncourt did still belong to Leonard DiMaggio/JD Motors). We decided that the VW had too many miles anyway and went back to look at a Pontiac Vibe that we had seen at JD.
Back at JD we walked into what was apparently a domestic argument between Lenny and his wife or girlfriend.. she was teary eyed and her children were also despondent, we should have left immediately. When we explained we wanted to see the Pontiac instead, the owner began a 13 minute explanation of why me reestablishing my credit was so important and how he was the only one that could help. I didn't need help reestablishing my credit.. my credit score was good enough for me to leases a brand new VW, Secure a Mortgage and qualify for Amex Platinum. I tried to explain this to him twice but he seemed intent on completing his story, when he finally gave me the keys to the Pontiac his other salesman had to jump start it for me and again the Check Engine light was on???? His second salesman was very nice as well, but had the same look on his face as the Lyncourt guy..
This was a major turn off now, 2 check engines, a freezing cold day.. and a man that obviously viewed women as second class and not as intelligent as himself. He called me Honey twice and made a reference to my daughters beauty..saying "I bet the boys are beating the doors down for her" ... This comment did not come across parental or complimentary, rather it made us both feel awkward and frankly..grossed out by this Tony Soprano wanna be.
His parting comment to me was... you can shop around but I guarantee you won't find a better deal anywhere in Syracuse.
Well I did.. and I just found out that my nephew had tried to buy a car from him in February and at the time of my writing this was still fighting for his total deposit to be returned (04/09/2011).
I would advise anyone looking for a used car to avoid this man and his 2 businesses at any cost. Not just because he tries to sell cars that aren't ready to be sold... but because he is such typical Creep.
Be Warned... pervert scammer!
