JDate matches are not based on stated member preferences & JDate will not give a refund.
I am a 56 year old man. Today JDate sent me an email with the subject: "We found a new match for you - clifton!." Their supposed match does not match my stated preferences, including the age range I gave them to match me with (46 - 56). Their latest in a long series of mis-matches for me is a 79 year old woman (Clifton: JDate # 115641064).
I phoned JDate and complained to a supervisor. I told him that I want to only get matched with people who meet my stated preferences. In response he told me that JDate is NOT set up to restrict the matches they make to what the members have chosen on their stated PREFERENCES. He told me that instead of doing that, they believe in giving people lots of choices, just like in "real life, " so that people can decide for themselves who to date.
Based on his response, I asked for a refund of my subscription fee. He said he cannot (will not?) do that.
As far as I am concerned, JDate is a waste of time and money. What JDate is doing is little more than assembling a database of names of single, supposedly mostly Jewish people, posting their profiles on their website and then charging members to email each other.
Please warn people you know who are thinking of signing up with JDate. Hopefully there are dating services around that give their members the choice of matches that are based solely on their stated preferences, if so desired.
