During my mother's hospital stay, she had a cardiac arrest. She first recieved the most outstanding medical care anyone could ask for, and see their loved one recieve. The nursing staff was phenomenal and did everything in their power to do as Jefferson Memorial Hospital, 550 Coal Valley Road, Clairton, PA states as their vision "We try to treat your family as we would our own". The events that happened proceeding leaving the ICU is when the problems occured.

1. She had classic exact to the detail symptoms of pulmonary embolism which were not addressed until 12 days of her stay. The doctors the Pinto Group specifically was more concerned with doing a heart catherization, than even entertaining the thoughts of anything else, this had to have been a major heart attack (even though constant repeated tests ECG etc. were proformed). Not to mention the paitent's constant telling them I know this is not my heart. The Pulmanary team of doctors would come into the room, not anounce who they were, place the stethescope on her for a second on the left side of her chest, and then write on her chart her left chest sounds to be approving.

2. This Pinto group was also told repeatedly that a "silent heart attack" NOR the low magnesium could cause a result such as this.

3. She was told that she was to have a test to FINALLY test to see if she had blood clots on July 4th and was told no one is in to do this test (yes a call to the paitent representative made that happen). A heprin drip was ordered immeadiately.

4. THEN a whole day passed she was told she needed blood, and it was typed etc, and she was told it was ordered and waiting for her when she returned from testing. The order was NEVER placed. (Now how would I know all the details about it had YOU not mentioned what you were going to do, I am not a doctor)! A day passed because they were more concerned with moving her from the therapy floor, to the 5th floor, to only move her to ICU to be "extra precautious" for the blood transfussion. When this was all decided to happen at 8am and didn't occur until after 7, this did not happen w/o family addressing this is what you said, and this hasn't been done. Again a nurse came to the rescue and obtained the order.

5. This one is the worst! She was issued a Life Vest (which is a external difibulator) which can deliver a 1500 volt shock when needed. This device is an electronical device that CANNOT get wet. What does this whole surgical team do.. they left it on for a surgical proceedure. A bloody sugical proceedure. She came back from this soaken with blood (pillow, blankets, and the vest). Not only could this fool have electricuted my mother and anyone else that was touching her, it could have sparked caught fire caused an explosion. The other issue of this out right NOT following ANY universal procautions with the soiled materials etc.

6. The billing, her insurance bills for PCP, Specialist, and ER admission. She never left the hospital, but yet they tell her this: When you moved to rehab this is just like a rehab facility so the insurance charges a second copay of 250.00 then when you moved out rehab and back to regular room again the insurance charges again. So in essence you have 3 250.00 copay

Can we say LAWSUIT?! This is just the short story. Keep your family safe!
