3 month back ordered control panel
This Jen-Air electric wall oven was purchased 03-04-99. One of the problems is the oven seal which is located on the door. Every time you clean the oven the seal has to be replaced because the ov en doesn't seal properly nor does it cook appropriately. I have had this seal replaced at least 4 times and cannot self clean the oven knowing the seal will be destroyed. Now the oven is inoperable, I am told the control panel needs to be replaced and the control panel has been back ordered by Sears, the contractor for American Home Warranty, since Sept. 25, 2009. I am told it will not be available until after Xmas. That means two of the most important holiday meals will be missing. Thanksgiving is already done and now Xmas. I have American Home Warranty Appliance Insurance and Sears is the contractor doing the repairs. American Home Warranty's contract says that if it cannot be repaired it will be replaced. This unit was very expensive, it is a wall unit with the matching microwave mounted above the oven. The face is decorative and concaved so a replacement oven cannot be installed. American Home W. wants to cash out for $228.00 I have refused. I just found out why this part has been back ordered for so long, this part will have to be remade, there are none available otherwise. American insists that Sears says the part is available therefore they will not replace the unit. In the meantime I am without an oven and what happens if the part is still not available after Xmas? I have complained to every supervisor from American, Sears, Jen-air and Whirlpool, all they can do is pass the buck to the other and walk away and in the meantime I am left holding the bag. What good is insurance???????? Are there any other agencies I can complain to? This is a joke and I am at the end of my rope. I would not buy another Jen-Air product ever. I need help. Joan DeBiase
