When we bought our 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel truck from Jim Click Dodge about 4 years ago, we also purchased the offer that allowed us 10 "free" oil changes. It is a coupon book. When you go in, they take the coupon out of the book and initial and date the stub that remains in the booklet (in case someone doesn't know how this works).
We had one coupon left in the booklet so my husband made an appointment and took the truck in for the oil change. Manny, the service guy, handled the transaction, took the last coupon, initialed and dated it.
After the service had been done:
Manny explains to my husband that Chrysler "says" that we had already used up all of our coupons before, therefore the price of the oil change is $89!
Husband says: I had one coupon left in the booklet and you took it. According to my records, I had one coupon left.
Manny: The coupons don't mean anything...we go by the records Chrysler keeps. How do you want to pay?
Husband: No money, no credit/debit cards and won't pay.
After haggling back and forth, Manny dropped the price to $49 and asked how are you going to pay. My husband said send me a bill.
After about 3 weeks (and no bill), Manny calls and want to know if husb is going to pay the bill. Asked if he could stop by the office on his way home from work and pay the bill. I said that we have a problem with this and to send a bill. Can't husband come in and pay, I said "No, send a bill...3 times now."
Well it is now 7 days later and still no bill. Oh, he told my husband that he (Manny) would have to pay this bill out of his own pocket if we didn't.
Can you believe this...!!! Jim, you better pay closer attention to your business reputation.
