Jim Ward is a total crook and absolute scum of the earth and I hope anyone considering having him do any jobs for them reads this first.

I am currently outside of the US, my husband was renting a room from Jim Ward aka Ace Handyman in Phoenix AZ prior to moving to the New England area.
Jim recently announced they had 48 hrs to leave the house (non-payment of rent, apparently) and he was heading back to his folks in NY state. My husband asked if he could share a ride as he was about to head in roughly that direction anyway by public transport.
Not only did he say fine, but he agreed to do some transportation for him upon arrival. My husband had bought a 5th wheel trailer to live in temporarily which was in MA and needed someone to move it to Maine (he doesn't drive). Jim said he'd do it and quoted a price. We bought a vehicle up there which needed fixing a bit, he was going to do that too and use the truck to do the hauling.
So far so good.
My husband is a very trusting guy, he grew up in a very small community and isn't at all streetwise. Let's just say that firstly Jim ripped him off hugely for travel expenses but he was afraid to kick up too much of a fuss for fear of being stranded. Also they guy was a bully and liked scaring him and kicking him out the truck and driving off and leaving him to find him again. He came across to me as pretty unstable and I started wondering if there was more to this guy than met the eye.

Then when they eventually got to the camper in MA they found they needed an adaptor hitch which had to come mail order. No problem, said Jim and they could have it shipped to his brother in Oswego. So they headed off there to wait.
At that point it became clear the whole bunch of them were abnormal, they started scaring him and making sure he couldn't let me know what was going on. They said he either had to go and sleep rough in the woods or pay $50 a night to stay there. Basically they managed to keep him there well over a week and long after the part turned up, for no reason other than to drain our bank account.
Eventually he decided to head to pick up the truck and fix it, then move the camper.
They got to the truck and started fixing it, at that point it had to be moved and the brakes failed and rolled into a fence causing minor damage to the fence. At this point Jim jumped in his van and sped off. He switched his phone off and that was that. It was like he was afraid of an insurance claim or the cops being called, like he had something to hide.
Apparently he is now back in Oswego having bled us dry and left a non-driver stranded with a non-roadworthy truck and a camper 70 miles away which has to be moved urgently. The only quote we've managed to get from a transport company is $2500 to move it less than 600 miles which we just can't pay.

My husband has now lost his job because of all this, the delays etc and because of this he cannot now sponsor me into the US, luckily he has family in Canada so we can go there but we don't WANT to, it's so upsetting and all because of this thief.


This guy could appear anywhere, he appears to have lived all over the US and probably makes a living out of scamming, especially the vulnerable. He currently has a PAYG cell with a Phoenix area code (480). I have the number but don't really want to put it up as the guy could be dangerous for all I know, he definitely seems to have something to hide though.
