JK Harris Reviews

No work rendered
I was a client of JK Harris about 5 years ago. At least I thought I was. A years worth of work with them, repeatedly resending the same documents, unanswered phone calls, general unprofessionalism. After all this I was hit with a huge bill to the IRS. We are talking just under 100, 000.

Without getting into it, these last 4 years have not been easy for me and I have not been able to make any payments towards the IRS debt. This year I was finally able to get my finances working in my favor. So I wanted to handle my obligations. After a lot of money was spent with JK Harris and little benefit achieved I thought there was still a glimmer of hope left to reduce at least some Penalties and Fees. I exhausted all resources finding a reputable firm and finally a friends suggestion about FS Legal Centers really caught my attention. (They had helped him). Not only did I feel confident after speaking with the agent but they were willing to do a Tax Investigation before having me commit 100% financially. A lot different from those companies with advertisements on TV.

Here comes the kicker. After I received my Tax Investigation a day later. FS Legal Centers tells me that the IRS had filed a substitute return for me instead of JK Harris actually filing!!! That means that absolutely no work had been completed. I often look back at all those years I had that liablility hanging over my head. The stress nearly ended my marriage. My family was able to stay strong through these years and now finally I do not owe anybody but the bank for my mortgage. All I can say is thank you FS Legal Centers. 714 7949TAX, I do suggest them to anyone. They were always on point!

Avoid being scammed
I owed $35, 000 back to the IRS. So when i saw the commercial for JK Harris i thought i would give them a call and see if they could help me. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. They immediately wanted me to charge $4, 500 on my credit card so they could Work on my case. $4, 500!!! After a 20 min. conversation! That put a bad taste in my mouth. so i started doing some research on how you can reduce your tax debt (very helpful www.settlewiththeirs.info). it turns out that most of what JK Harris told me they could do for me didn't even apply to my specific case. It was actually this blog site that helped me a lot. Dave at settlewiththeirs.info was very informative. if you still have an issue with the IRS give him a call 877-517-0067 after speaking to him i realized how much JK Hariss lied to me. JK H tries to pigeon hole everyone into whats called an Offer in Compromise which it turns out is not a realistic way for MOST people to to resolve their back taxes. After doing a Tax Investigation for me (he got it done in one day with no cost to me btw) Dave told me that my tax liability can be reduced, but unfortunately because this was a penalty from a 401k that i drew out early they could only reduce the debt to 25k. and i would have a monthly payment to the IRS of $50/month. Well that was more than good enough for me. and they only charged $1, 500! Way better than JK Harris. DO NOT USE JK HARRIS! THEY WILL OVER CHARGE YOU AND TELL YOU LIES!!!

Scam
I contacted JK Harris in 2009 to help me reduce my tax debt. I didnt file for 2000-2004. Apparently the IRS will file for you if you dont. So the IRS told me I owed 20k in back taxes and had started garnishing my pay.

At JK Harris they told me based on my hardship and financial situation I was qualified for an Offer In Compromise and would only have to pay the IRS 1, 000. LIES!!! I paid them 2, 200 up front so they could file a Power of Attorney and stop the garnishment and 1, 200 a month for the next 3 months would be my total fees for the POA and the OIC. The garnishments stopped--- for 3 months.

I called in to see why and they told me my OIC was rejected and there was nothing they could do for me. Then they told me that I was not entitled to a refund because there is no guarantee for the outcome and the money I paid them was for their services which they performed!! COMPLETE BS!!! THEY DID NOTHING FOR ME AND TOOK 5, 800 FROM ME!!! About 6 months ago after searching for some sort of solution to my taxes and came across settlewiththeirs.info.

According to them OIC is not even a legitimate way to reduce your tax debt unless the IRS determines that you have no way of repaying the debt i.e. on your death bed with no job or assets. But they did a Tax Investigation for free and got back to me with the results the next day. It turns out that I was not entitled to an OIC like they stated earlier, but they said they could reduce most of the interest and penalties on my debt and stop the garnishment indefinitely.

I have 12 months left of 250 a month back to the IRS then I will be done with this tax debt FOREVER! And they were about 2 grand less than JK Harris. Moral of the Story: If it sounds too good to be true then it is! Stay away from JK Harris. I am filling a complaint to the Attorney General, The BBB and my Governor! I suggest that you all do the same!

Tax Help
Recently our firm (877-517-0067) has been receiving calls from consumers that have been complaining about Tax Masters and Jk Harris. It seems that these two companies are telling everyone that calls in that they qualify for an Offer in Compromise. If you want an OIC all you have to do is download form 656 off the IRS website and submit it. on the site they even tell you what qualifications are necessary to qualify for an Offer in Compromise. Let me be the first to tell you that if you qualify for an OIC you do not have any money to pay a tax preparer of any kind thousands of dollars to do this for you (for most cases, some cases are much more complex). There is no miracle process to resolving a tax payers debt, each individuals case requires a different approach. And there is no way to determine what it will cost a financial firm to resolve your tax situation from one phone conversation. Which is why our firm will do a Tax Investigation first. we actually contact to IRS and determine why you owe the debts you do. Once that is determined it becomes possible to know how your tax situation can be resolved. Fillings as 1099, 1040, k1, 940 etc. have different ramifications, and the reasons you owe the taxes: sub returns filed for you, non payment, receiving lump sums of cash (401k, divorce settlement, lottery winnings, stock trading) all have different ways of being resolved and depending on your situation. you may be entitled to having your debt reduced dramatically, or you may not be qualified to have it reduced at all. I'm not even sure why Those two companies promote Offer In Compromise as the legitimate fix all for tax debt, according to the IRS over 90% of all OIC's submitted get denied. A huge marketing budget doesn't equate to actual help. if you want actual advice and help call 877-517-0067. There is no miracle cure, but there are many ways to fix your tax problems.

Rip off
Trusted JK Harris and come to find out they are rip offs. Been working with them for 2 years and I want to know where all my paper work went they required to be sent to them. I don't think there is any such things as POA and I tried to call them all day and only one time did they answer and if I wanted them to help more on my case I have to pay more. I have a new case worker every week now. If they think I will pay them more they are full of sh**. I had to call the IRS today and they were really nice and helpful. I should have worked it out with them and sent the money I owe them instead of JK Harris.

Rude service
Please, please, please if you ever get a call from this company you will have to put their representatives in their place. They are very rude. I recieved a call on my job and I told the lady (Ms. Jones) not to ever call me again at work. Very harsh and threatened me with being sued. I told her fine -- I work at a law firm and I know my rights. The sad part is that I am paying and still have to deal with these idots!

Fraudulent Business Practices
My new husband and I met with Debbie Figueroa from JK Harris at the end of September 2009 to see if they could negotiate my husband's tax debt with the IRS or help us otherwise come up with a payment plan. He owed just under $10, 000 from before we were married. She told us that they negotiate all the time with the IRS and they could help us with this amount. I specifically asked her about the amount because no other company we saw advertised would talk to us because the tax debt wasn't over $10, 000. She told us to stop making payments to the IRS and they would take care of everything. We signed a contract and agreed to make 3 payments of $250, totalling $750. We did not hear from her for a month. I repeatedly tried to call her, I left messages, and no return phone call. I finally received a call on 11/03/09 in which I asked her how was the negotiations coming. She told me that they were not finished and we would have to wait. Our first deduction came out on 10/16/09, the second on 10/26/09, and the final payment on 11/09/09. Still we received no news. My husband, who was no longer making payments to the IRS, received a tax levy notification in his paycheck on 11/12/09. The IRS would be taking about 75% of his paycheck until the debt was paid starting 11/19/09. I made an emergency call to Debbie to see what kind of progress JK Harris had made. She informed me that we did not qualify for a compromise with the IRS and she emailed me the report. She said if we wanted to spend ANOTHER $1800, they would get the IRS to remove the tax levy. I told her that I certainly wouldn't be spending any more money with a company that promised us they could help us and then could not. I also told her right then that we wanted our money back. She told me that there would be no refund whatsoever. When I looked at the report, it was dated 10/14/09!!! They knew they wouldn't be able to help us before they ever took a cent from us! Then they waited until all 3 payments were made before telling us that there was nothing they could do. Because we were waiting on JK Harris and because we stopped making payments to the IRS based on the advice of JK Harris, now the IRS is garnishing 75% of my husband's wages. I disputed the charges with my bank but because we signed a contract they will not reverse the charges. Their refund policy in the contract is completely worthless because you have to request the refund before they finish the work. Debbie Figueroa lied when she said the report was not finished and I doubt they would have returned our money anyway considering the deceitful way JK Harris does business.

We are scraping by with my income, but it is so difficult to make ends meet with bills and a child to care for. Companies like JK Harris take advantage of regular, hard-working people like us. They play upon the fears that people have of the IRS. I may not be able to recoup my money, I may have to be miserable financially for a year or so, but people like Debbie Figueroa and companies like JK Harris have to live with hurting people every day. One day this will be behind me, they have to live with their actions all the time. If you are reading this, DO NOT use this company.
