I was going to get a car from Rizzo Wholesale in Greenland NH a little over a year ago. I was told by a few people that he is known as Bondo Man and watch out for his cars. Well I check online for cars a lot and never seen anything written bad about him. So I bought a car from him last weekend. I want to let everyone know my experience so you don’t make the same mistake.
First problem I had was I signed the title application and realized I had given them incorrect information. I informed them of my mistake immediately and was told that I would have to pay them another $100 to fill out new paperwork. No additional state fees would have had to be paid by them so that calculates to $100 for 15 min of paperwork. I know it was my error but this seems to be extreme.
I checked the car over top to bottom as best I could. I know that I am buying a car AS IS and am more accepting then most when it comes to finding unexpected things. After all it is “AS IS”. So it did not bother me that it needed front pads, rotors, valve cover gaskets. Also found a gas leak from zip tied fuel filter, evaporative leak p1675 from sending unit above gas tank, power steering rack leaking, rust hole in floor. All of this was somewhat ok….I bought it as is. But when I had a shop put it on a lift and went to look at the car…… That is when I found frame rot in 3 places. They attempted to hide damage by filling the frame with foam, gluing sheet mettle glued over the foam and painting the area.
At that point I did call to complain. I was told that they don’t take cars back and I would have to wait for the title so I can sell it to someone else. I emailed him several times and received no response at all. Below is the email I sent to him if you feel like reading it. As you can see I did not send him a nasty email and tried to resolve the issue before posting this. Sadly I can not recommend him.
I know I bought this car as is. I found that it needs a lot of work which is fine. But the frame of the car has been filled with foam in a few places. Sheet metal glued over it and painted. I don’t expect to find something like this from a dealer….even a wholesale dealer. You check over and buy cars for a living so if you can over look something like this how could you expect your customer not to do the same. If you knowingly sold it like this then I guess that’s my answer. This car should be taken back and traded to something else in your lot. That is if you want to stand behind your business name.
