I am at my wit's end! I purchased a vehicle from the Jordan Auto Jonesboro office in September of 2007. I paid $1500 cash for the downpayment for a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo that I was told was in 'great shape'. In January 2008 I was driving down the street not far from my job and the car would not accelerate! I was scared as it was on a Sunday but traffic was rather heavy. I pulled over and parked the car in a oil/lube shop parking lot because it was not drivable. The next day, I called to find out what was wrong and they told me the transmission was shot! I called and got other estimates and had the vehicle towed to a transmission shop. The estimate I got was almost $3000! They said the transfer case as well as the transmission was shot! When I asked the shop to put the truck back together, they told me it would cost $1300 to do that so I was basically stuck with having these people repair my truck.
I called Jordan Auto and was told 'the manager and salesman who sold it to you are no longer here so there is nothing we can do'! I was devastated. I am a single mother with no family in Atlanta therefore was caught between a rock and a hard place. It is now July and I still have not managed to come up with the $2500 left to get the car out. (I paid some on it as I could). The hard part is once I had no vehicle, I ended up losing my job and things got even harder. Oh, did I mention I was still paying my car note AND insurance? The finance company would only defer one month, so I am right now probably facing a repossession of a car I haven't driven in over 5 months!
This is a tragedy and has really effected my life. I was just getting my credit back in good shape and am STILL paying for insurance so I will not be labeled as an unlicensed driver! I don't know what to do and it looks like I won't be getting the vehicle back unless Jordan Auto helps me to pay for the repairs at the shop or puts me in another vehicle! This has been so disheartening to me. I used to refer people to them because of the hassle free way I purchased my vehicle. Now I know why it was so hassle free! If anyone knows of any resolution to a situation like this, I would appreciate your input.
Please don't buy your vehicle from Jordan Auto. They do not stand behind their cars.
