Myself and family had returned to Bangalore on the by Shatabdi train. I had engaged as call taxi from JP City Taxi Services (Ph 65760000). Once we boarded the van bearing registration number KA 05 C 9563, the driver was refusing to put on the meter. He cited reasons of meter fault. We called back to the booking office and it was conveyed to me thru the driver that the minimum charge will be Rs 250/- for the trip. The driver during the conversation had already had the vehicle moving towards the exit, despite telling him to finalize on the rates and then proceed. Once we reached the top of the flyover he stopped the vehicle and asked us to exit and started demanding Rs 100/ towards cancellation charges. My wife got out of the car and walked down the flyover where she had seen a Police Officer and a Constable on duty standing. I tried reaching another call taxi service and in the meanwhile the driver removed my luggage and kept it on the side of the road. He insisted I take both my children out of the car who were there in the back seat. My elder child is past the age of 6 and my younger one is only 11 months old.
The driver had got into the his seat and had started the vehicle threatening me to take my kids out. A passing by Cab Driver stopped his car seeing the commotion and helped us. Before my wife could reach back the place with the police constable the cab drove away.
I guess we need to ensure that such crooks are taken to task.
