I've had a Juniper Bank Card for approx 5 + Years now. I've always carried a balance due to the low interest rate, and never had a late payment. Last year my cards were compromised so I had new ones issued and we had a minor misunderstanding that we cleared up. My payment was due last Sunday and I attempted to log on to the web site but was unsuccessful. I then got up early Monday morning and made that payment. To my Surprise Juniper/Barclay had assessed me a late fee, not to mention raised my interest rate from a 9.9 % to 25.24%. I called customer service immediately and they of course apologized but there was nothing they could do.
I then requested to speak to a supervisor and he was unavailable so they took my number so that they could call back. Well thank God I wasn’t holding my breath waiting on that call, because who knows how many more late fees I could have incurred. I finally decided to call back and still got the same sorry response nothing I can do even after speaking to a supervisor. I decided to close the account and file a complaint with the FTC. This I believe to be a deceptive billing practice. Then my account is being handled by people in the Phillipines. I guess I wouldn’t give a good customer a late fee credit either when its more than I make Sheeesh.
I hate to just give them the late fee for this sort of scam. I know it was not 30 days late so they cannot report that on the bureau.
