Bogus repairs and shotty work
We just got done with a year-long nightmare with Just Brakes here in Thornton, CO, on 120th Ave and Washington St. At first, I had taken my 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage (a pretty small economy car) there to fix the brake pads which had a life-time warranty from a previous Just Brakes repair at the $98 price from a Southern Colorado location. It was 2 years later, so not too bad for the amount of miles I put on the car.
The manager at the time, Lanny, replaced the pads but said the rotors were warped/worn and could not be machined and that they needed to be replaced. So, $460 later, brand new pads, shoes, and rotors.
Then, less than a month later, the brakes are grinding again, took it back in for warranty work, and WOW, all of a sudden Lanny tells me that we need new calipers, imagine that. I was stupid enough to pay for it, they machine the rotors under the warranty, replace the pads and shoes, AGAIN, and supposedly put on new calipers (found out they were really just re-conditioned used calipers, not new).
Of course, 2 weeks later, the brakes are again grinding, enter the sale of new struts, $600.
Since then and for the past 6 months, just about once a month we've had to take the care in for "warranty" work and they just can't seem to get it right. It's a freaking nightmare dealing with them and they refuse to replace their own defective parts, instead stating that the warranty is up on everything but the pads and shoes, and that they will stop doing any warranty work unless we buy all new rotors again.
Now Lanny, and thier new manager Dan, are trying to tell my wife and I that the rotors from the factory (OEM supposedly) are designed to wear out in less than 8 months, which I know is complete BS! We refuse to give them any more money, and will take it to our local mechanic which we should have done in the first place (all this started with them because of thier own stupid warranty).
I'm drafing up the lawsuit right now against them. We've had it and want it done right. We already know we paid way too much, and I won't even start of the "entire new" brake system that they were legally obligated to fix before allowing us to leave and refused to put the vehicle back together on my wife's 2000 Jeep Wrangler, that was $1, 400 we found out we never needed to spend.
It doesn't matter the few decent experiences anyone's had with this company, they are complete rip off artists, and I only wish I had scoured the internet before ever agreeing to a single out of warranty repair there. I feel like a complete idiot.

Terrible service/wrong repairs
DO NOT GO THERE! They lure everyone in with the $99 pads-for-life service, and then turn around and completely take advantage of you. I took in my 2006 Cobalt in Sept 08 for a break job since my pads were squeaking. I was told the calipers and rotors had to be replaced. I ended up spending $496. By January, I had to go because the problems were back. I was told it was a hose that needed replacing. They again claimed the calipers had to be replaced again and the rotors needed to be sanded. "Luckily" the visit was covered under warranty...minus the hose. Total cost for that visit $106. Forward a couple of monts, the issues are back again. This time, I've taken the car to the dealership. I was just told I need to replace the calipers (again!), the rotors, and the master cylinder. Total estimate at this point: $1, 057. The service center manager cautioned me about places like Just Brakes. Their bait-n-swich is apparently well-known as I see from this site. I've learned my lesson. Never trusting anyone but the dealer. Is anyone aware of any class-action suits? 'Cause you best believe I'm suing their butts for this! my email is [email protected].

Bunch of Liars
I decided to bring wife's '06 Sequoia to Just Brakes to take advantage of the $ 99 special. I figured that since it was fairly new, the chances of an expensive brake job would be very unlikely. I waited for them to disassemble so I could see the condition and after a short while, they asked me to take a look at what they found. Their suggested repair was $ 480 and included rebuilding the calipers, replacing the hardward and flushing the break lines. I've done my own break jobs for over 20 years, so I'm pretty knowledgable about the ins and outs. This guy must have thought I was an idiot when he told that you can't add break fluid to the system so it would have to be flushed and according to him, the hardware is an item that should always be replaced. In case you don't know, hardware is not a wear item so replacement is highly unlikely, especially on the first go around. As far as rebuilding the calipers as suggested, I looked at the pads and they were worn evenly. (both pades were the same thickness) I questioned why he would suggest rebuilding calipers as the brake fluid was virtually clear and the pistons were obviously working as designed. All he would say was that Toyoto's 4 pistion design had inherint problems and this portion of the repair was just a "proactive" suggestion. After discussing their recommentations he showed me the estimates again and said some were optional but some were required. The optional repair was $ 480 but the required repair was $ 227. I question what repairs were required and again, pointed to the fluid level and hardware and said those items were required. After a few minutes, I walked away and returned to their office. The manager finally walked back in and I told him $ 99 and that's it. He agreed, but it sure was stranage how cold he treated me from that point forward. Even though the pads have a lifetime warranty, I'll go somewhere else the next time or do it myself.

Fraud and cheating
I took my car to Just Brakes for new front brakes that were advertised for $99. The mechanic came to get me and showed with amazement that I had some kind of mysterious ailment with my front pads...they weren't worn evenly. He then showed me the rear brake pistons, pushed back the rubber seals to reveal a few drops of brake fluid, and declared that the pistons were bad and brake fluid was just 'pouring out' (never mind that in 4 years I had never added brake fluid and it was still at the full level). Sadly, he let me know that all would have to be replaced...including the front pistons. When I refused and stated I just wanted the pads replaced for $99 he let me know that it 'just wouldn't be safe' and refused to do the service.
They informed me the repair would cost $300 or so. My car was already dismantled and I was afraid to drive it without the work so I agreed to get it done. I left the car at the shop cuz they said it'd be a few hours before itd be done. After I left I got a call saying that they found a few more minor issues & the repairs would cost a little over $400. I wasn't happy about it but agreed to have it done, after being told they couldn't do the brakes if I didn't have the work done & they weren't able to reassemble the car without these repairs. They called me to pick up my vehicle & told me the total was over $1000. I argued with the man over the phone for a good 15 minutes about the cost & he lowered the price to $900, then $800, then $700 then $750... All the way to $550. Upon returning to pick up the vehicle the cashier told me the total was $650. I argued with the man even though he assured me he was giving me such a great deal & he could loose his job for doing it but wasn't getting anything accomplished except more & more upset so I paid it. They also informed me that there was another $300-$400 worth of repairs that needed to be done for the car to be safe. Mad as hell I left having paid $650 for a $99 brake job.
A week later my car starting making some horrible screeching noises & not properly braking. It got so bad that I felt it wasn't drivable so I had it towed into a local shop where they inspected the cars brakes system. I was told that the noise was caused by the rear brakes had been reassembled incorrectly & this caused additional damage. After paying stupid Just Brakes $650 I had to spend another $800 to fix what they screwed up!!!

Awful experience
On February 16, 2009, I went to Just Brakes in Stockbridge Georgia, because the highly attractive advertisement promised customers $99.98 brake job for both front and rear brake pads! Upon completion of the inspection, the Manager told me that they only carried the front pads for my 2004 Toyota Highlander, and that the rear pads were a 'specialty' pad, since they did not have them in stock and charged me an extra $88+ to have their 'source' deliver them to the shop. To my surprise, other Just Brakes locations carried the same brake pads in question. Ironically, another customer came in behind me with a 2001 Toyota Highlander, so while the manager was away, I warned him of their devious tactics. In addition, both the manager and the mechanic tried to get me to cough up an extra $788 for a brake fluid flush, rear rotors and from calipers. Oh, and did I mention that prior to this, Toyota changed my oil conducted a full complimentary inspection of my brakes and rotors and advised that I ONLY needed pads - nothing else. I have the inspectors signature to that effect. The only reason why I went to Just Brakes is because it would of course be cheaper than Toyota fixing the brakes. In conclusion, stay away from the Just Brakes shady mechanics and managers because what they'll tell you is JUST CRAP!!!

Unauthorized billing
I should have used this site BEFORE going to Just Brakes...then I would have known their practices!
My car's brakes were squeaking, so I dropped off my car in the early morning for the $99 pads-and-shoes deal that they advertised - I'm new in Dallas, and thought they were my best option since I didn't know any local mechanics.
Mid-afternoon, I received a call saying that the car would need over $500 in repairs. The mechanic I talked too wouldn't give me too many specifics other than things like 'weak hoses, ' 'corroded rotors, ' 'dirty calipers' and such. He said it all in a tone that was like he was reading from a script.
However, I had had my car looked at by a mechanic I TRUSTED only about a month ago, before I moved, and he had only mentioned some wear on the pads. So I told the Just Brakes rep that I just wanted the pads and shoes replaced. He quoted me a new price, around $350, and said he wouldn't do any work unless I consented to at least that price. I told him just to put it back together and write me out a list of what was wrong, and I'd get a second opinion.
When I came back to get my car two hours later, the front right tire was completely flat! The mechanic vaguely mentioned something about how it was fine when they put it back on, and how 'slow leaks' can happen. These were 2-year-old tires that I'd checked one month ago and were filled when I came in. They finally agreed to fill up the tire, but accused me of 'cussing them out' and 'overreacting' when I simply asked to see a manager.
Five days later, and my tire is doing fine and has not lost any pressure. I'm not sure if the flat tire was due to incompetence or retaliation for turning them down, but I'm worried about what else they may have done to my brake system. I'm certainly doing my research before I take my car to another repair shop here!

Don't go there!
I went for the $99 special. I was told my callipers or struts or something were leaking and something was wrong with my rotors and it would cost me $1300.00. Thinking my car was still under warranty, I took it to the dealership for a second opinion. As soon as I told them I had come from Just Brakes, they told me verbatim the lines I had just gotten from Just Brakes and said they do that to everyone and should be turned in to the Better Business Bureau! I then had my brakes done by my dealership. Now I'm disgusted every time I have to drive past this place! This place should be shut down! This was the shop on Russell Rd. in Henderson, NV, and I will never return there again and I will recommend the same to others.

Stay away!
Just Brakes in Lakeland, went there 4 Feb 09. 2 customers in the office had been there for 3 hours, bills were up to $1000.00 and $600.00. My GMC truck needed pads and the rotors turned. Within 5 minutes the bleed valve on my right calliper was discovered to be broken and leaking...wait it is not leaking the mechanic's wrench had fluid on it, but the valve head was gone and since one calliper needed to be replace the other side needed one also. The $99s were now close to $500, I left with the truck.
