K-1 Auto Carrier Reviews

Toodale March 25, 2011
They are most dishonest people
I recently used K-1 Auto Carrier to ship my vehicle (2007 Hyundai Elantra) from NJ to CA. I handed over my vehicle to K-1 on 11/26/09 in NJ. At this time, I took a picture of my vehicle’s odometer to note its mileage. K-1 delivered my vehicle to CA on 12/02/09. As I was inspecting my car with K-1′s truck driver, I noticed that it had logged extra 50 miles. At this time, I took a picture of my vehicle’s odometer again to note its new mileage and immediately brought this fact to the truck driver’s attention.

He agreed that it was rather unusual, and made a note of it on his inspection sheet. He suggested that I should call K-1 directly, and assured me that I will be given an explanation. I paid the remaining balance of $600 in full assuming that K-1 would address this issue in a timely manner, especially since the truck driver made a note of it on the inspection sheet. On the same day that I picked up my vehicle (12/02/09) I called K-1 directly and was able to talk to one of their employees, Sean. He apologized for the incident and told me that he would call me back with an explanation.

On the following two days (12/03-12/04), I made a number of unsuccessful attempts to talk to Sean, only to be told that he was not available to answer my calls. Other employees of K-1 told me that they would relay my message to Sean to have him call me as soon as possible. I have not heard a single word from K-1 since then, and I am under the impression that they are simply trying to avoid me and the problem altogether.

So, I wrote them an official complaint letter on 12/07/09 – still no response. My vehicle was driven without my permission while it was under K-1′s custody. I understand that it is reasonable to expect truck drivers to operate my vehicle as they load/unload it from their trucks, but 50 miles is a rather extended distance. Whatever the reason was, it is a serious matter, and I’m entitled to an explanation. K-1 not only failed to provide me with any explanation, but also showed very little honesty and professionalism in dealing with this issue. I caution everyone to stay away from K-1 Auto Carrier. They are the most dishonest people, I’ve ever dealt with.
