Last fall, I was looking for a faucet for our new home that had been discontinued. I had done a lot of business previously with K and B Galleries, and I called them. They had a floor model of the faucet, which I purchased from John at half price. The faucet arrived with parts in disarray, tossed into a box. Our plumber tried unsuccessfully to install it; there was at least one part missing, and the plumber could not find a substitute. The parent company (Franke) no longer carried the faucet, and to make matters more complicated, the faucet that was sent was an older model with older generation parts. My husband and I were very disappointed, as we had this faucet in a previous home and liked it very much. When all possibilities were exhausted (our plumber tried everything he could, and the plumbing bill was astronomical as a result of his shopping at various places, trying to find something adaptable). I called John at K and B, who agreed to accept back the faucet. It was mailed to him, and he acknowledges its arrival. Now comes the hard part.
We have been unable to get a refund for this faucet, presumably on the basis of it being a floor model and a final sale. John, however, never informed me that it was a final sale, and the invoice does not make that statement, either. John admits to this error, yet after all these months, we still do not have a refund. The fact that I was not informed of its being a final sale, plus the fact that the faucet is non-functional should clearly lead one to admit that a refund is due. John, at one point, offered a credit. This is unacceptable. For one thing, we no longer live in Chicago, and we have now settled in our retirement home. I do not anticipate needing new plumbing supplies anytime soon, if ever. If circumstances were different i.e., if I had been informed of the final sale status or if the faucet were functional, I would feel differently about the credit. Neither of these issues is my fault. John made the error of not designating the final sale, and he should take responsibility for it and return my money, in my opinion.
John has all the paper work filed.
