K-mart $2500.00 gift card
Tried to register for the $2500.00 K-Mart gift card and unable to do it. This has gone on for at least 9 -12 months. Get real and don't put something on your receipts that says you can win something if you shop at K-Mart. How low and deceiving can you go? Especially in America in times like these. You companies raise prices for struggling Americans and the advertise hope with possible winning on a receipt when it is not possible to even register. SHAME ON YOU! Someone needs to turn you in. This is only the second time I have commented on not being able to register after many times of shopping. I will not go back to your store because of this besides of higher prices then other competitors. I thought you were American but obviously not. Do you not get the hint from these comments?

Employment
So I applied to K-mart as an unloader/stockroom associate and my interview was scheduled for noon the following monday. I went in at 11:40 so I could make a good impression of course and they made me wait almost three hours before someone even approached me. I understand that they can do whatever they want being the 0ne hiring but why make me wait almost 3 hours AFTER the scheduled time? So the interview went fine and they said that they'd call me. I wait until that coming friday to call them and ask them about my interview. When I called I got someone who sounded like they had a mouth full of food or something. I just asked for my interviewers name and told them about my interview so they put me on hold. After almost an hour on hold I got a different manager saying that she had just left. Instead of getting pissed that they kept me on hold for an hour to ignore my call I ask if she would be in tomorrow and he said yeah. I called back the next day with almost the same wait time but I got the same person that answered the phone saying she wasn't there and to call back tomorrow. So I called back the next day.. Almost an hour and a half wait and a click. So they hung up on me. So I gave it one more day, I called a half hour after that specific manager arrived at work and asked specifically for her and NOT the other person with the same name. So I am waiting and I finally get another person on the phone with me to hear: "She's not here." So I asked if she was in tomorrow (once again) to be nice and not just hang up on them and he said yeah in a really mean tone. After that I said "Oh thank you very much." and before I even got to "Th-" they hung up on me.

All in all just terrible managers there. I needed work to help pay for my college. I had a handful of great references and in my opinion, with what I was studying, far over qualified for that position. Oh well. I mean I know that getting a job is hard nowadays but why ignore my application and calls but still advertise that they're hiring? I'm not a smart ass or an idiot at the interview, she was actually really nice and we talked extensively afterwards.

Customer Service
Recently I went into the Somerville K-Mart store located next to A.C. Moore in search of some last minute items for school. Usually I don't have a problem with K-Mart, mostly because I rarely shop there for items and I usually shop at the Saugus location off Rte. 1.

I grabbed a cart and started going after some of the items I knew I needed and knew where they were. Afterwards, I was looking for shower caddies, since I had thrown out the previous one I had bought. I asked a clerk in the college section who said they'd actually be in the makeup section, that they have moved them over there. I checked over there and the associate who was there (who was the first one to actually ASK ME FIRST if I needed help. The other associate I had to ask TWICE in order to get a response) told me she didn't know what the associate thought, but they were certainly not in the makeup section. She wasn't sure if the handled ones were in the bath section so she called an employee over that knew. After calling twice, I told her I'd go look for another employee and thanked her for her effort. I did get asked by one other employee if I needed help. She told me where they were and escorted me over but said the only ones they had were wire baskets and I was better off going to Target. Those two employees were pretty much the only customer service I got at all.

Meanwhile, I needed an iron and since they were on a high self (at least the B/D one I wanted) I went to ask for help. Once again, the girl at the makeup counter (who could not leave, there was a register and she was the only one) called for help THREE TIMES before another customer grabbed a stool and got two down (he needed one and couldn't reach). It's sad that I actually need to get a damn stool to get a product down when there were plenty of associates around.

Now to the checkout counter. There were at least twenty customers waiting, with only two lanes open. There were two associates at the customer service desk and the cashiers needed price checks and had to go and check them for themselves since apparently neither customer service was willing to help.

Finally (after waiting twenty minutes for even one customer to be finished, the cashiers were ridiculously slow and both scanned items twice or three times and had to take them off) another customer went to the service desk to ask for help. There were plenty of associates on the floor who I'm sure could have helped (in fact I recognized one as a cashier from when I first entered and who was hanging around the cleaning section talking to two others).

The service desk finally said they could take customers with five items or less. I went because I had SIX items, two of which were not to be bagged because it'd be simply too much of a pain. After the customer in front of me paid, I finally got up there and was treatly rudely by the associate.

She first said that it was five items or less but "I guess I'll take you next time learn the rules" which I thought was shockingly rude. She then proceeded to scan my foam pad twice and I had to tell her TWICE that she scanned it twice before she took it off. She then said "I AM human, I make mistakes so please don't be rude." (which in itself is incredibly rude). She then didn't even tell me my total, even though I was busy putting the bags into my cart and 'hurrumphed' twice in order to get my attention. After I paid by credit she then shoved the receipt in my hand and turned around to talk to another associate who was there.

I will no longer be shopping at the store in Somerville. I'd much rather head to a Target or Wal-Mart before going to the Somerville store again. I have had slow service at the one in Saugus but associates there are eager to help as well as eager to open registers when the lines back up.

The service at the Somerville K-Mart was absolutely atrocious and I have worked in customer service for six years. Never before have I seen such rude and horrible service, minus the two women on the sales floor who helped me.

FALSE ADVERTISING
I'm sorry I wasted my precious time going to the website because it doesn't benefit me, there is nothing there, no survey, etc.
Why is K-mart evening having anyone do this?

Would they like to see how many people they can irritate? Well they have been successful.

internet coupon
I drove over an hour to shop at the Kmart store closest to me. I had gone on line and looked at items that I wanted to purchase and then decided to make my trip. I could have gone to a local Walmart to shop but chose not to because I liked what Kmart had to offer. I chose the items that I wanted and then went through the checkout but only to find that they would not honor an internet coupon I had printed. I was angry about that but chose to take the items anyway because of the time spent in the store and the time for travel that I had made. I was shopping for my granddaughter who lives in Salt Lake City, Utah! I would have done the shopping online but I like to see and feel the items I purchase. The coupon was for an additional 15% off the entire purchase for clothes and shoes, that is about all I purchased and they are for her first year at school, and she loves to get a box from grandma. So, what can Kmart do to reimburse me for my time and travel? I will be awaiting a response. Thank You for your time, Brenda Nissen. [email protected] 1225 Atchison Rd. Camden Tennessee 38320.

working conditions
The store is so HOT that I am totally soaking wet within 20 minutes of standing at the registers. Yet, no water is allowed to staff off heat stroke. Eventhough I drink two 12 ounce glasses of water before arriving on the job, I sweat so much I can't even urinate on my break. The management is graceous enough to allow small fans - of which I can barely even feel a breeze. It would appear that K-Mart is reviving the old fashioned sweat shop atmosphere. One day when I was about to pass out from the heat I removed my shoes for about 30 seconds while I wasn't waiting on customers and no one was around - in an attempt to cool down. I was noticed by the customer service manager and reprimanded. I think it is time for K-Mart to start using some common sense instead of political correctness. If you want to make a profit, you should not be doing it on the backs of your sweat ladden employees who are actually trying to do a good job for you. Even most of the customers complain that the store is too HOT!!! And the rest are just sick and tired of getting all the extra paper at check out when you print out coupons and other unnecessary notices. Take my advise - save a buck (and some trees) by NOT PRINTING these extra things at check out and turn up the air conditioning. Golly - 20 hour jobs are not worth suffering through these kind of conditions.
I have been around professional people all my life and I have NEVER SEEN so many people trying to act professional and failing so miserably.
