My daughter and I went school shopping this afternoon for her three daughters and my ten year old son. Since she has three to buy for I offered to buy supplies for one of her girls.
We found everything we needed and the store was not busy, which was extremely nice since we had a 10 year old, an 8 year old a 7 year old and a five year old.
I purchased a few things for myself so I knew my amount would be more than hers. We went through separate lines, my total was 163.07, Jamies was less than a 100.00.
I saw coupons come out of the register when the cashier was ringing my merchandise but to be honest I wasn't paying that much atttention to the coupons.
The cashier that rang Jamie's merchandise up, told her the total of 109.00 and change and then told her with the coupon discounts the total was 84.00.
When we got into the car, Jamie commented how nice it was to save and come out less than 100.00 on the girls school supplies. I was dumbfounded. I spent 35.00 on myself, the other 128.00 was on school supplies.
It would have been nice if I had received the same discount as my daughter did. Now I wonder why I wasn't given the coupons when they came out of the register, because I wasn't paying attention, my mistake, but if this happened to me how many other people have been cheated in the same way? K-Mart in our area wonders why Wal-Mart and Target are doing great and the K-Marts aren't busy.
I'm disabled, for me going to K-Mart is easier because there is less traffic and I don't feel like I'm getting into other peoples way. I can assure though it will be awhile until I return to k-mart after this experience and I most definetly will pay closer attention to the coupons and ask about them when I see them come out of the register.
