As an ex employee I am speaking of what I witnessed but turned my head the other way in disgust of how Kaplan University has complete staff of men and women whom sleeps with each other and play favoritism to one another in the workplace. Anyone that is not a virgin should know how sex smells, foul body odors and can determine when a person has just had sex and did not cleanse their body from seminal fluids and wash up. Throughout the day it is obvious when Team Leads (men) and female employees leave for lunch together and return an hour later looking suspicious and smelling suspicious like sex was just performed. The smell travels with them as they are coming back in the work area to resume their jobs and the air conditioner adds to the curiosity of questioning (what is that smell)? Not only is the body odor offensive a person cannot ask someone to go to the restroom and wash up their body parts smells. Also to speak about someone smells to a supervisor may also be look upon as defamatory and hardly would anyone report this to a supervisor.

Numerous sightings also has been viewed by me and ex colleagues I am aware witnessed this also themselves of employees (married men) and female employees (single with children at home) hugged up walking around the parking lot smoking cigarettes and or sitting in the parking lot eating lunch and then the car is jumping up and down and foggy. Security is in the parking lot and I am sure staff has viewed the sightings of employees having sex on the premises in their cars. But that is not their jobs they are there to protect employees and stop crime. I am sure if Kaplan spouses at home (wives) were aware of what was going on they definitely would be checking out their husbands movements at Kaplan throughout the day.

In addition, I am aware of an Adm Adv wrongfully fired by Kaplan after an incompetent financial aid representative did not document important details in the students file after interviewing her. The Adm Adv claimed the student file had no messages of student status to be approved for financial aid. The Adm Adv discovered the same day fired what happened in financial aid for more than a week which should have been a message to write off the student she was in default and needed a clearance letter after interviewing student. The student was not happy about being in default and told FA Rep she will call back when she get her clearance letter. However, the Adm Advisor called FA department and was unable to find out what happened to the student she was not transferred and there is no document in files. So the Adm Adv kept calling student because FA rep never sent her an email, nothing to what happened to the student, causing the Adm Adv not to make goal. Eventually the Adm Adv sent the student a closed file after the student stop contacting her. Guess what, Kaplan fired the Adm Advisor when the student called and reported she sent her emails and harass her by calling too much. They made the student feel like royalty and fired one of their best Advisor over a misunderstanding. First, the student cursed her Adm Adv and hung up telephone. Next the student emailed the Adm Adv and boasted of how she will get in the school through another advisor after she cursed her advisor and disrespected the advisor. The advisor requested an apology and said she will be sure the student doesn't get recommended and sent email to the student as well as explaining how the student is causing her to be placed in the boss office by wasting her time. Well, the Sr Director fired the Adm Adv, the same day the notes finally from FA dept was documented. The Advisor said she copied notes sent to student to prove she did not harass her. The boss claim the emails back to the student was not all company memos and fired the advisor for getting emotional with the student. Well it backfired on the boss because he strangely resigned the very next week or they fired him because he no longer works there. Wonder what happened? Sounds like karma. But today, I heard Kaplan is giving out checks to employees of supposedly violating the Labor laws, Wage and Salary and underpaid thousands of Advisors. So if anyone use to work for Kaplan, you should receive a letter about this, you could have a check in the mail because the current employees was told they were receiving Christmas bonuses. They do not know that is underpayments Kaplan handed them for working all that overtime on weekends. Also its a rumor that some Adm Adv are hired earning salary and some Advisors are hired earning hourly pay. Thats against the law and is another wage and salary discrepancy. That sound like favoritism to me and discrimination in salary I am sure which race those were getting salaries. Oh boy... I can't wait to hear what the results will be. I predict in my crystal ball Kaplan will be singing the song written by Mary J Blige very soon, 'I'm going down... I am going down... because my students are not around... Baby... My whole world s upside... down... I am going down... I am going down... my whole worlds upside... down... I will be so happy when that day come because nasty evil mean wicked and disgusting people deserve to go down. They not only have themselves in class action lawsuits but doesn't fire hoochie mamas (ie. weave, bleached and punk hair styles, gothic, false eyelashes, tight clothing, cleavage, mini skirts, street attitude) for having sex with married men (team leads) in the parking lots. Kaplan does not like employees who are intelligent and challenge them, theirs a rumor Kaplan will fire you for attending a college different than their school. The employees work there that are too imperial or conservative gets fired for the least things they do. Its Florida law, employers can fire you for anything including your race, but who could prove it. Thats messed up.

I took online classes and then i went into my second classes they didnt teach me anything and the points to pass they gave me .03 point to not pass me in two classes and then when i ask about them they wouldnt answer me
the teachers didnt teach what i needed to learn the didnt go through all of the problems.
and then when i decided to drop out they said i owed them $100.00 and then when they sent me a bill they said i owed $35.00 cause i told them that was crazy that you had to pay them to withdraw you.
i was not please they way they talk to me and how they treated me with the classes
i did have two teachers that were really good.
but i was not please with this school at all
then when i told them i was no linger going there they said i owed $12, 000 in loans, and when i talked to the bank they said i only owed $7, 000. and they had a lot of complaints with this school.
i need to know what i can do?

Dealing with the salesman who called me saying he was a Sr. Advisor was an experience in cheap pop psychology aimed at duping the consumer. I know I should have read the reviews first but was overwhelmed with Kaplan's fast and hard sell and the fact that I really wanted to go to school to finally get a degree after 22 years of academic inertia. When I told the advisor I wanted to cancel the agreement and wanted my $1000 back, he was rude. Hmmm... 3-5 wks for a refund. Scary, Scary! When I called in the early morning trying to cancel, they said I must speak to my advisor who only comes in during the late afternoon. In spite of me emailing him the evening before with a cancellation request when I had my epiphany to check the reviews before the 3 day cancellation window passed, the advisor called me today asking if I was ready to sign up for my classes. I told him I had called that very morning to have a guy named Tim Fritz get my cancellation going and that Tim said he would email him, (the advisor) and the advisor sounded surprised. HMMMM... I was then told I had to talk to Marvin the Associate Manager who needed to know why I wanted to cancel. Instead of Marvin taking it from there, he told me I would have to be transferred back to the advisor to finish the process. Marvin was mad when I asked him to repeat his title for me. The advisor was busy so Marvin said he would have to have the advisor call me back. Yep, you guessed it... no call back. I emailed the advisor and I got a short, abrupt, you no longer are my sales target attitude and was told it would take 3-5 weeks for a refund. Hmmm... bad business. I hope I get my $1000 back.

I would like to start off by saying I was into my third term at Kaplan University and decided to withdraw due to the schools incompetent, tenacious and corrupt Financial Aid and Student Accounts Department only to have it go from bad to worse.

I thought trying to deal with Kaplan’s Financial Aid and Student Accounts Department was a nightmare, but after withdrawing it only got worse. This so called University has no integrity, and is one of the most tenacious predators I have ever encountered when it comes to dealing with a school or business.

I had nothing hassles when ever tried ever get in touch with anyone from this so called FA dept. I could never get in touch with my own FA advisor no matter when I tried to reach her. I would call and leave voice mail messages, send email after email and FA would never return my messages, or answer any of my questions that I had.

When I first enrolled at Kaplan, my Academic advisor assured me that all the courses would transfer and I did not have anything to worry about, but after checking into several other Universities I found out that was a bunch B.S., not to mention that they are supposed to be an accredited University, what that really means is they are an accredited school of higher learning, not an accredited University, a big difference.

It was disappointing to find out that a good majority of the credits and courses that I would earn from Kaplan would not transfer over to some of the other Universities I wanted to attend. Most of the 5 credit courses that would transfer over were only worth about 3 credits to most other Universities.

I also realized that I would be going into an incredible amount of debt for courses and credits that would not transfer. At a cost of $320.00 per credit hour, and considering that most of the courses are set at 5 credits each, that ads up to $1600.00 per course. Since it takes a total of160 credits to earn a bachelor degree at Kaplan, that would be a total cost of $51, 200.00, and that’s if the tuition would have stayed the same, which by the way it increased to $340.00 a credit hour. Even with the combination of the Stafford Loans, and Pell-Grants that wouldn’t even cover the total cost of the full tuition.

Almost from the very beginning I started having trouble with the Financial Aid department at Kaplan. I explained to them from the very start that I was living on disability Income and could not afford any out of pocket expenses. I was assured that I would not have to worry about that because of my income, and they told me that it would all be picked up through my Stafford loans, and Federal Pell Grants.

Of course I found that was a big misrepresentation once I started receiving bills for past due tuition. That was when I tried repeatedly to have it resolved with FA and ended up with many different stories as why I now have an out-of-pocket expense that I was originally assured that I would not have in the first place.
When I originally got walked through Kaplan’s financial wizard by my Admissions Advisor it showed that I would not have any out of pocket expenses, but soon after starting my first term I started getting bills for unpaid tuition. That’s when I started confronting financial aid about it.

When I was able to finally reach my FA advisor she told me it was because my EFC rating changed. I asked her how my EFC could change when my income did not change. She tried to say I went into FAFSA and changed it. I told her that was a
bunch of B.S., so I called FAFSA and found out that that Kaplan went in there and changed my EFC from a 0 to 1873 rating which lead to a out of pocket expanse that I was not prepared to pay.

Once again they assured me not to worry because it would get picked up into the following year’s financial aid distribution. I found out that was a crock of B.S. also once I started to get harassed for more money. Now their excuse this time was my grants and loans for the new FA aid year did not cover the full cost of the tuition which once again was a different story that I was originally lead to believe.

I have a friend who enrolled at Kaplan around the same time I did, and she was going through almost the identical same situation I was, and she even had a different Financial Aid officer than I did. The longer I attended Kaplan the more screwed up, disorganized, deceptive, manipulative and greedy I found out Kaplan was. Once I decided to withdraw it took Kaplan about a month to figure out what my final bill would be.

They then wanted me to take this withdraw exit test and said it was required by the lending institution who was holding my loans. The website they gave me I could not even use because I got all kinds of security warnings about the sites security certificates. My Internet Explorer warned me not to leave any identifiable information at the site, which is what you had to do to complete the test.

I constantly called and wrote about this situation that I experienced to see what I could do about or what they suggested I should do, and nobody from their Student Accounts dept. would even get back with me on it. So I contacted the bank who is holding my loans and they said there was nothing they could do until the school notified them that I withdrew. Kaplan never even bothered let the Bank know that I withdrew from school, so I was still left in limbo on that too.
So to my dismay I ended up receiving a final bill in the mail on 08/05/08, even though I did not take the exit test that was supposed to be required to take by The Higher Education Foundation. In only three days after receiving the final withdraw calculation or final bill, I then received a late notice. I don’t know about you, but that’s the quickest late notice I have ever received, in only three days.

I never even received a notice in my hard mail or snail mail, it was through the e-mail. I then started getting phone calls on a daily basis. I contacted student accounts about it, and told them I would pay the full amount next month. I have since received phone calls three times a day on both my land-line and cell phone to the point it has become pure harassment.

It has only been a little over a week since receiving that final withdraw calculation from Kaplan and they have called over 23 times now, because I have kept records of every time they have called. I even wrote and called them back several times and said I would report them to the Higher Education Foundation, The Attorney General and the FCC for phone harassment. Can you believe they even have called twice today?

I can’t believe with all the complaints filed at Rip-Off and other places online that I have read about, along with some of class action law-suites that have been filed against Kaplan University, they are still taking advantage of so many people.

This bogus school has managed to destroy the hopes and dreams of many individuals wanting to improve the quality of their lives, only to have that dream shattered by such a greedy, ruthless organization called a University that’s just nothing more than a front for dishonest, shady and manipulative practices for their own financial gain.
I stand behind and would like to join forces with anyone that would like to get a class-action law-suit against this so called University. Kaplan University needs to be shut-down so they don’t continue to wrecking the lives of hard working individuals with the hopes of improving the quality of their lives. There are a lot of people out there whose lives are totally turned upside down by this kind of ruthlessness.

As a pharmacy student that has just completed her education, I was looking for a study aid for the NAPLEX (North American Pharmacists Licensure Exam) and I enrolled in Kaplan's online Q-bank, which boasted 1000's of questions for review. First of all, there were only 1040 questions available for the website. Period. Secondly, I searched out other forms of study aid and bought the Comprehensive Review for Pharmacy and also registered for the UNC Exam Masters, which is a school-sponsored database for health professionals seeking licensure, and it's free. I have been through my book and all the Exam Masters questions, and Kaplan has taken over 75% of it's questions from Exam Master's and Comprehensive Review for pharmacists. That's plagiarism, and illegal. Do not waste your money!
