On the 25th of February 2008, I signed an agreement with Keightley Incorporated, agreeing to pay the outstanding fees debt I had with the University of Transkei. The debt was R14 103.86 including their collection fees. I agreed to pay them R500 every month. After I have paid a couple of months I enquired about my debt to see how much I still owe, only to be told that my debt was R 18 900.80 . I continued to pay UNTIL November 2008, exactly nine (9) months after I have signed the agreement I called them again and they told me that my debt was R 22 150.00.
On the 25th of November 2008, I paid Keightley Incorporated R 22 150.00.
In all the instances I called I requested them to furnish me with the interest rate they are charging me, because it seemed that the more I paid the more I owed.
I wrote a letter to the legal aid board and until today I have never received any response.
